Habs News & Notes: Regular Season 2019-2020

Agree about Price. Some competition would do him some good.

Forwards need a serious dose of humility. They need to be reminded they’re not Gretzky-Kurri and that someone always needs to stay high. Talk to them like peewees if necessary. The number of avoidable odd man rushes allowed is simply embarrassing and it’s just bizarre that they can’t figure it out.

Hair must be away, nobody is keeping tabs.

The Canadiens announced that defenseman Christian Folin was assigned to the AHL’s Laval Rocket for conditioning purposes.

The Canadiens have recalled defenseman Gustav Olofsson from the Laval Rocket, and placed forward Paul Byron on injured reserve.

The organization seems to be so intimidated by Price. Christ almighty, since Halak left the Habs have deliberately signed shitty back ups so as not to offend Carey's delicate fucking sensibilities. Next season, **** him, take some cap space and sign someone that might motivate Price to play better or ask for a fucking trade. Really tired of his "calm demeanour best goalie in the world bull shit" that is repeated ad nauseum as if it was a fact. Price needs to learn how to deal with adversity for **** sakes. He's getting paid way more than what he's fucking worth.
I wouldn't mind a tandem goalie situation like Boston.

That best goalie in the world nonsense will die down for some time to come, thank fuck.

This is a laughable post. Go ahead and bring God in to play goal. He’s still letting in 4+ with this team defence. There is still 8 mill in cap space unused. Carey isn’t the problem. Plus as a goalie, when your team is this bad, it’s pretty hard to stay confident.

He is playing like shit , he has to take some blame

We keep saying 8m in unused cap. I prefer to see it as 13m considering we have 5m between Alzner and Weise that is hitting the cap for players who are not on the roster. So really we have spent even less on the team we actually iced.
This guy is a joke.

I’m good with more losses if it means Bergevin gets fired. Two problems:

1) Molson is a feckless twat
2) Habs usually beat the islanders.

Should Habs manage to find way to win back-to-backs this weekend they all of a sudden become 2-4-1 with 3-left to play on their latest 10-game sequence in the schedule and ending up .500 becomes a realistic goal.

Interesting to watch play out...

You're saying if they win the next 5 they'll be .500 over the last 10? That seems realistic?

I’m saying the league is now all about 10-game segments, and every team has good and bad 10-game segments. Vast majority of teams usually go from world beaters to meh or poor one segment to the next

In general teams that remain in playoff & division contention over the course of a long marathon season, usually hover around .500 for the bad segments with no worse than 1-2 games below .500 for a couple of those sequences - the extremely rarity are the Canes & Blues of last years post-Jan. It’s difficult to overcome a 5-6 games below .500 segment due to league parity let alone 1-9 or 0-10.

Habs sweep this weekend and the 6-game losing streak is almost negated with realistic chance to completely negate due to the 4-4-2 and 7-1-2 segments competed in the first 20-games of the schedule.

You’re describing mediocrity. You know that right?
Over an 82-game season if a team ends up playing .500 for four 10-game sequences, 4-games above .500 for the other 4-sequences and splits the remaining two games - that’s a 98-point season anything greater is a terrific season.

Soooo mediocrity.

Got it.

Now the injuries will start piling up. Whenever players try doing more than they should it happens.
