Leafs re-sign Pierre Engvall - 2 years/$1.25M AAV

Given his injury and jumping around the lineup he is still managing to be on pace to be just shy of his career average

Engvall impresses the shit out of me defensively. And he has qutie a bit of Nylander in him, in zoning.

Nice player. He really pushed it, to make the NHL. Good for him. Probably could have carved out a long career in the SHL making, say 250k a year and being amongst his people. But no, he went for it.

He is the kind of player who could really break out, at any given moment too. If he only saw how good he is, at creating space, watched more vid of himself. Guy could be really something.

He's certainly noticeable on the ice, has a very upright skating stride.

That upright stride is what allows him to see the ice so well imo. I see big potential in him. Like a 60 point guy. IF, he realizes how far he has come, but that he has much possibly more to come. But he has a lot of stuff that could create points.

He, Kapanen, Liljegren on an eye test, are guys that make me think they could get at least one or two breakaways each and every game.

But you gotta really believe in yourself on NHL ice to do that kind of stuff.

Gonna be super interesting who we protect for expansion draft.

The move here is to let hyman hit UFA with the nudgenudge understanding that he's coming back.

Then trading one of kappy/kerfoot/Johnson.

I think that takes care of the draft.

Honestly guys, this roster is so, so, so fucking good. The combination of amazing luck and drafting, nice trades, and the key elite UFA signing in Tavares makes this the best team we’ve ever had, and young as fuck so should be this way for another decade. If we don’t win a Cup with this core, I think we can safely say that none of us will see a Leafs Cup in our lifetimes.

We have such a good core, that we could actually drop off the map and trade for a ton of ELC and rule next year. Dubas has a lot of options.

He pulled of a size trade lately. I am probably the least optimistic of Jack Campbell of the board here, but his tap and slap seems to be getting his defence to finally pay full attention.

And you know what? Whatever man, whatever works. Kerfoot and Barrie played amazing last game.

Is that a coincidence, could be. But both of them were on fire. Barrie played like a real defensive dman. and he was damn good at it.

Kerfoot’s a really good player, but needs to go back to 3C. I like Campbell a lot, he’s going to be so important for us, the stability he brings, he’s finally another McEl we can rely on, maybe better, and signed for two more years.

Barrie still doesn’t belong here. Neither does Spezza, though I understand why people like him.

Spezza doesn't belong? Guy still has a magic stick from my eyetest. Would have loved to have him for 15 years.

Well one was a deft tip if he actually made contact with it, the second was all Tavares but he still buried it. I’m not saying they were bad. Any line with Tavares on it is going to be good. But Kerfoot can play C and be effective on a superhuman speed line with Kappy and Johnsson. Engvall can be much better as some size on the wing playing with JT and Willy. Hyman should go back to his birthplace beside Matty.
