he probably does but the thought of next year without Petry scares the crap out of him. Cause he's not capable of replacing him.Bergevin doesn’t understand the concept of sell high I guess

Seems like a valid reason to keep him, no ?he probably does but the thought of next year without Petry scares the crap out of him. Cause he's not capable of replacing him.

The way the leafs and panthers are playing right now i am sure there is not one Habs player who feels they are out of the race. I do not expect much anymore in the trade deadline. This team will not be a lottery pick if we stay healthy.
we probably will not be a lottery pick this year or next. nice to dream thoughWe are a lottery pick if healthy . You can’t ask for anything more than last years gutsy career year team with 98 points
and playoff miss

here’s the reality...Petry will be 33 next year and a pending UFA.
here’s the possible outcomes that can potentially happen
A) Habs sign a 33 year old dman next year to a long term deal (minimum 4 yrs - no choice)
B) you don’t re-sign him because you are in a playoff spot hunt next year and he walks for nothing In the summer.
C) you decide to trade him tomorrow for a very good return...1st rounder, A level prospect and another asset.
D) you decide to trade him at next years deadline for a lesser return than this year.
where this organization is today I think option C is best
C is the best option if you have a regime with logic
Anything can happen waiting til next deadline .....injuries, poor play, etc....
The summer will create more teams in the mix but your return will probably be no better than tomorrow
Plus we can take on cap helping the other team looking to unload another player
If you get a solid offer we would be fools to not take it .
the thing is that a team will pay more for Petry tomorrow because they will have him for this years playoff run and all of next year.
so for sure as you say hetting a solid offer tomorrow should logically be accepted
Colorado , Vegas and Vancouver should be all in on Petry
He has a limited traded clause but not sure who is on it
If your Petry why would you not join a playoff roster .
Maybe there’s a reason why a dozen teams could be in on Petry. Habs really need to reflect on this carefully.
I’m sure MB already knows who is offering what and countered. Now it’s a waiting game, as other players come off the board Perry’s value increases.Maybe there’s a reason why a dozen teams could be in on Petry. Habs really need to reflect on this carefully.
