2020 NHL Entry Draft

Yup.

But don't be fooled by that. Some players (if drafted out of the CHL) have two years to be signed before we lose their rights, some have 4 years (Europeans) and some have up to 5 years to be signed due to them doing one more year of Junior A hockey before going to the NCAA (see Rhett Pitlick & Kieran Ruscheinski from last year's draft).

Also, there are players every single year that don't get signed. If we do draft 14 times this upcoming summer, we won't sign all 14 of them. Some of those picks will be complete wiffs.

Sure. But... 6 in the first three rounds... 3 more in the 4th.

Not super top heavy, but skewed to earlier picks...

Meh. Who am I kidding? They’ll screw it up.

The draft being in MTL, i expect them to do something stupid like trade for a Frenchy.....like pull a stupid move for Giroux (i hope not) or another trade like Drouin to get a French star over here

Potential for disaster all ove again....

I actually think that Drouin will be traded in the off-season . . . and possibly at the draft.

Not a chance ......CMD is generational like Mario was
McDavid appears that he is going to be in that Crosby, Lemieux, Gretzky, Orr conversation if he keeps up what he's been doing.

Wright's numbers are slightly better than McDavid's at the same age... so "not a chance" is kinda ridiculous.

He has to continue to develop at the rate that those previous "generational" guys did though.

I have watched Shane play since he was 13 , he is no CMD .

He doesn’t have that extra gear or elite puck skills of CMD

2 different players , Shane is going to be a good one but not in that class IMO

CMD is a once every 10-20 year generational freak

The 3 man race in 2022 for the top spot between Wright, Savoie & Lambert is going to be a fun one. Those are 3 really skilled prospects.

I think Wright has the potential to be on the same level as Niklas Backstrom: A clear #1 center, but he'll never be in the discussion for the title of best player in the world at any given point in his career.

(Not comparing their style of play, just upside)

The Backstrom caliber ... a point a game level is bang on GGpX

Shane should be a solid goal scorer like Tavares but not the playmaker like Backstrom

He has a few years to grow and fill out

I guess this is the problem with just looking at stats. Looking at the stats, he's comparable with McDavid at the same age. I've never watched him play though.
