Are they actually going to play? I stopped paying attention since I assume there's no chance.
I always predicted they'd play, even back in April so I'll say yes. I'll predict all sports will succesfully play. NBA will have the biggest COVID issues though.

Choosing two Canadian cities upped the odds significantly, I think.

With how backwards this league is a lot of the time, it's honestly shocking that they seem to have the safest and most prudent return-to-play plan by far of any of the major North American sports leagues.

The NBA & MLS decided it'd be a good idea to send all their players to the biggest Covid hot-spot in the world for their return-to-play.

MLB isn't even doing a bubble at all, and is having their teams play in their home stadiums and freely travel back and forth across a country where Covid is largely raging out of control. The NFL looks like they're following baseball's plan, and they haven't even ruled out having fans in attendance.

I'm still not convinced that the NHL's return-to-play will manage to get to a conclusion before falling apart, but they've given themselves the best chance for it to succeed. And I'm getting more confident that, at the very least, they'll get through the qualifying round, which means we'll get to watch the Leafs/Blue Jacket series.

Not sure if true, but it was reported NBC was not happy that the 2 HUB cities were in Canada which is so fucking stupid as no fans are allowed and the U.S COVID cases are so horrible.

Ya but that's a bit of them knowing the U.S. culture. If a game is played outside U.S. soil, does it make a sound?

I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time being emotionally invested in the Leafs winning. I hope not, but it just doesn't feel... Real. I won't cheer against them either but having a chance at the top pick has me feeling indifferent.

I'm enjoying reading Leaf/Blue Jackets predictions. Apparently Toronto had no injuries and goal scoring will not matter.

Once the puck drops you might really get into it. I know I will. And I'm convinced this team is going on a run. Raptors just had perfect timing in everything last year.

Maybe. I don't really see them finishing up though I guess odds are better they finish in Canada than the leagues in the US. So for me it's kinda pointless. But I'm a bitch.

If you think about it though, the Leafs weren't getting any respect no matter who they played. they haven't won a series in 15 years. until they change that nobody is going to take them seriously no matter how talented they are. that's how it works.

Yeah I'm good with it. I used to care and whine about them not getting enough respect but then I remembered they haven't won a series in like 15+ years. Why the fuck would they get respect? Also who cares?

I get that. But it really looks lazy and biased. The 15 years gets brought in every Leaf/Blue Jackets analysis, but in Florida's series, no mention of the whole 24 years since a playoff round win.
And Blue Jackets have 1 playoff series win ever. And the team lost so much talent from last year.

Even forgetting the 15 years, which is irrelevant to the current team, this core group has lost in the first round for three years in a row, and had a real up and down roller-coaster of a season this year.

So frankly, they’re not owed and haven’t earned any respect when it comes to playoff predictions.

Yeah I give them a pass the last three years. They played some real fucking good teams and lost on a coin flip last year. But yeah... this year was mostly ugly. They showed that they declined a bit from last year so any prediction that has them losing to Columbus is more than fair.

Now if they flip the switch and play like they did in last years playoffs I think they'll win but they haven't done enough to expect that.
