Play-in Round: Toronto Maple Leafs (8) vs Columbus Blue Jackets (9)

2. He states that he doesn't think goaltending will be a decisive factor in this series. Which may or may not be true.....but he fails to mention that goaltending WAS a decisive factor in each team's regular season. In other words, if suddenly goaltending is even now, then that actually swings the series significantly in the leafs' favor, and it should not be as close as the regular season records indicate.
He alludes to it but not enough focus. I've been harranging him about Anderson for two seasons now.

Rask looks like shit. Let in a clean shot from the blueline and moments later another. 2 pp goals for the BJs shitty pp.

gotta say that we did pick a tough first round opponent. Going through all the teams in all these play ins, the leafs are imo either the best or 2nd best of the 16, but the BJs are at least top 5 too.

Memory lane for pretty much all of us:

I keep seeing a lot of Quinn in Keefe. Keefe is a lot more systematic in his approach but I hope and think that he might just have some of that Pat motivational magic.

Very similar, but Quinn did it more by gut instinct while keefe has much more hard data to give more structure to his system imo.

I think they're being overrated. They are far and away the easiest, let's say, first round opponent this team has faced. I do think it's a tough match up for the Leafs though, as their game is precisely the type the Leafs have the most difficulty playing against. Time to rise up.

how so? I see a team that can’t score; only the dead wings scored less in the conference.

It's a stylistic thing for me when looking at these two teams. The BJ's are a bad matchup for the Leafs as their style is exactly the one we struggle against. Now we have a major talent advantage so I think that will be enough to overcome the matchup issues but it's not surprising that people are predicting a close series between these two teams.

And then of course Lady Luck will take over. Hopefully she looks fondly on us this time.

I have a lot of confidence that Keefe will sort out the main problem, which is getting through the neutral zone. The other problem, getting hemmed in by a strong cycle, gives me greater concern but they've been working on it through training camp.

They better learn, cause the Isles are better at it and they can score if they have to.

...can't lose to them. If we somehow do meet at least they can't fill up on Tavares-hate-chants
