In very basic terms, the Canadiens still have about $3.4 million in available non-Aho cap space plus the 10% percent offseason cushion - which is an additional $8.15 million - so in theory they could continue shopping while they wait for the Hurricanes to match.
Well we should offer sheet someone else as well. Wtf not....
We still have like $11.5 million available to spend... I don't think this really stop us from anything.
As long as we have the picks. Now those tied to aho are frozen but I think you can spread them on 2 years

My guess is TBay would have matched without question (100% futility) but Canes are one of only a couple of orgs who MAY not (80%-90% futility)my guess is they tried to get Point to sign an offer sheet but he wouldnt

The hope has to be that they have some intel that Dundon would never pay out 21.5 mil to a player in a year.
They low balled Aho with a 6 mil/year offer.
How do you do that when you have 22 mil in cap space to your best player?
So if he GTF out, who’s exactly lining up to buy the team and keep it in Car?If you dont have the funds or will to retain a few of your stars ...GTF out of the league Dundon
This is lunacy of epic proportion regardless of your team revenues .
Maybe... based on recent history TBay would likely find a way to jettison another player (cap space) to fit Point. Likely be somewhat costly in terms of picks/prospects but could be done.can they afford to though?
cap wise
