Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

Hockey might come back, but I think they'll need to be extra careful/lucky to get through 2+ months of playoffs without an outbreak decimating a team at some point. I think it would be a lot more possible if the hub cities were in Canada, but they ruled out Vancouver for having too many...

Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

I think if the NHL were really serious about this they wouldn’t have written off Vancouver, who looks like they have handled this by far the best in North America. I think these “plans” are in large part for publicity and to keep the sport in the news, which is quite frankly not a bad idea for...

Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

I went to McGill at the same time as St-Pierre. A friend of mine had a big crush on her

Canadiens VS Pens. Best of Five July whatever...

So if I’m reading it right, the Habs after losing in the play-in round would have the same chance at getting a top 3 pick as any other team losing the same round. How did we agree to this?? I guess that the cost of making a playoff we didn’t deserve to make.

As much as it would please me for the Habs to eliminate the Penguins, this draft format makes me hope the playoffs end up being cancelled

Habs News & Notes: Regular Season 2019-2020

There's a lot of pros and cons to the Weber injury. On the downside, his injury pretty much ends our playoff hopes, but the upside is we'll likely end up with the better draft pick. The biggest downside is it gives Bergevin another excuse to not make the playoffs, but in the end it doesn't...

    GDT - Game 58 Coyotes @ Canadiens - 2/10/20 - 7:00EST

Looks like it's back to cheering for all the teams ahead of us except for Toronto...

Ugh that would be the worst case scenario, though I suppose it s a bigger risk that the Laffs win the Stanley Cup if they actually do make the playoffs so I would take that chance.

    How low will Habs fall

What's also surprising is that Subban was, IMO, noticeably better than Weber for the first two years after the trade, then completely fell off even though he's 4 years younger. He was looking like a first-ballot HOFer-type, now not at all just a year and a half later.

    How low will Habs fall

Agreed. With our crappy defence, a more obvious example would be PK Subban, except he's barely an NHLer anymore

    How low will Habs fall

Good point, it looks like the Habs are missing Andrew Shaw (not that he's having a good season, but he did have one last year)

    How low will Habs fall

I get that, it’s just weird having a team entirely of guys under 26, or even if we keep Price and Weber, nobody else on the roster in their late 20’s or early 30’s. I don’t know if that makes a difference, but it needs to be a great return instead of something like a mid first-round pick or...

    How low will Habs fall

I see Gallagher as similar to a previous #11, Kirk Muller, a talented, but not super-skilled, guy whose offense came in large part from hard work. I also see a fairly rapid offensive decline in his late 20's. That said, what made the Muller trade great was actually getting a better scorer back...

    GDT - Game 16 - Canadiens @ Flyers- 11/7/19 - 7:00EST

I don't know what the deal was with the reffing yesterday but I have a feeling it was to make up for the chintzy offsides call that went our way against Boston

Habs News & Notes: Regular Season 2019-2020

He made a horrible pass that led to Toronto's first goal on Saturday, but otherwise he's looked quite solid, pretty physical and mobile too

Would've been easier with Poehling's surefire 3 goals though :)

Also, they want to give the Laffs a chance to win the game this weekend

Habs News & Notes: Regular Season 2019-2020

A bit surprising they sent Poehling down, but maybe it's for the best as he missed some preseason time with that concussion. Chances are that someone will get hurt in October so he'll be the first callup

Rumours, Innuendos and Flat out B.S.: 2019-20 Edition

Great job on the new site! Even if it's not in the team's best long-term interests, I'm one of those fans who wants Bergevin to do something just to do something. So I would welcome a move for Gardiner even though there's kind of no space for him and we might regret it long-term, just like I...
