We need a few more dman, 1 to control the PP and 1 to replace Komisarek.

Markov/??
Gorges/Hamrlik
O'Byrne (or Weber)/??

As you mentioned in your cap review, we should have enough to fill that gap.

I'd also like to get rid of Plekanec and get a real centreman, in fact i'd like to also retain Koivu as #2 and get rid of Plekanec for any type or return. I don't think that's in he cards, who would want Pleks?!

Re-sign Koivu and sign a good winger or two.

Gomez
Koivu
Pleks
Lappy

It's not an amazing group of centres, but its not terrible, especially if Gomez and Pleks have rebound seasons.

Havlat and Gaborik are Euros who probably appreciate what Montreal has to offer more than North American players would. I think there is a decent chance these players would give Montreal serious consideration. Not sure about Hossa, he seems bent on playing with a contender.

But you won't get much for Pleks.

I agree. He is going to go with Gomez and Pleks. If Koivu takes a nice paycut then maybe.
I believe we need kovy more now because of the Gomez deal. He needs someone to finish. So getting Kovy resigned and another top guy would be great.
If Gainey fails at landing a top forward then I say we bring back Tanguay, Kovalev and add a couple dman and wait for a scoring winger via trade. I can't see Gainey spending like crazy tomorrow.

Getting Gomez was useless. We took a huge cap for a guy who had a shit season and even gave them one of our better defensive prospects or did we give them 2 of our better defensive prospects(Valentenko who may never come over)??? It is nuts that this guy is now the highest paid hab in habs history. And still no size up the middle. Koivu would be a good signing eventhough it doesn't address our need for size at centre, but it's better than Pleks.

Gainey = Genuis?

Pleks?? Playoff failure. Price and co. will have to carry us with this stiff in the lineup come playoff time.

16M$ to sign 3 more players, that should be enough.

Looks like we're set on defense.

13.5M$ left for two more forwards if we don't move anyone.

That could be Gaborik and Havlat.... not likely to happen but there is enough money to do it.

There is definitely enough to get at least one of them, even if it means playing 8M$ to one of them.

Teams are running out of the serious cash. I think that is what Gainey is counting on.

About 8M$ left. We still have room for one big forward.

Or a good forward + a top 4 defense.
