what is the position you are arguing, other than 'Matthews hasn't been good enough'?
meh, I laid it out pretty clearly and specifically. people want to turn that into hitting and fighting and conflating it with media toughness takes, I'm cool. doesn't change anything.

and if that is the position you are arguing, given his performance relative to his peers, you may simply need to revise your expectations.
I'll revise them when it is 100% clear that the "generational" and McDavid comparison talk that took place at one point is bunk.

It's moving in that direction, but I'm not giving up yet.

The quality that makes Matthews generational is his goal scoring, and frankly, that is kind of impossible to argue against at this point.
