Leafs vs San Jose 730pm TSN4

Looks like we will be getting Andersen vs Jones tonight at the ACC.

In the 14 prior Matchups the Leafs have 1 win, 11 losses and 2 Ties so overall we have fared terribly against the Sharks historically.

Zaitsev's possession numbers have rebounded pretty heavily from his early season deadlifting of that boat anchor he was playing with.

Yup.

Though remember that Hunlak gets a little mistreated in these comps compared to other 3rd pairs - Schlemko/Dillon get more typical sheltered 3rd pair usage, while Hunlak gets pretty tough matchups while Jake/Carrick gets it a bit easier.

That being said, I'm sure their numbers wouuld still be negative with a more typical 3rd pair usage.

LOL at dreger. the leafs are on pace for a .500 season despite being the youngest team in the league, featuring 6-7 rookie and things are looking 'bleak'.

did people say that about buffalo last year?

this is where babcock is going to pay huge dividends. the leafs are having a solid year by any realistic measure given how bad they've been for so long and the number of rookies in the lineup but the media is still trying to stoke the flames. could you imagine bringing these kids up under carlyle or wilson?

now per dreger 'there is concern amongst the leafs about matthews' performance in 3rd periods'.

what a total ****ing clown.

i'm not saying they need to polish the leafs, but what's the point of stirring the pot? there is nothing but optimism around the leafs right now.

I just tuned in in time to hear him say the Leafs are really concerned about Matthews and his lack of intensity in the third period(??).

The point, per usual with the hockey media imbeciles, is to pander to all the non-Leafs fans who hate Toronto. Much as the Tories have been doing the past 20+ years. **** 'em all.

The media don't know what to do with themselves when things are actually going well.

The best is seeing the reaction to Nylander on the 4th line Vs Marner on the 4th line.

You would think that Toronto of all cities would be beyond targeting Swedish stars for criticism.

How much trouble is TSN going to be in when Bob McKenzie retires in a few years and Dreger is their lead "hockey insider"?

Nylander & Matthews are just ridiculous.

And say what you want about Hyman, but that kid's got some serious balls.

I love that goal so much.

especially aftee all that stuff about SJ's cycling game.

and hey - we start a game without putting one of our best guys on the 4th line....and we don't fall behind. imagine that.

p.s. loved hearing babcock asked about the leafs possession stata last game and people thinking they played well because of it....and instead of the usual hockey guy "well.stats aren't everything" he just answers: "they're right."
