Kinda surprised by some of those names left off. Kane, Benn > Marchand, Kunitz, Ladd
Brodeur I understand - he's old, he probably called them up to decline the invite.
Ward also shocked. Although I guess they've decided on Price, Luongo, plus whoever seems to be doing the best among the others.
Doughty, Keith, Letang, Pietrangelo, PK, Weber I say are locks on D.
Bergeron, Crosby, Getzlaf, Giroux, Hall, Nash, Perry, St. Louis, Tavares, Stamkos, Toews are pretty sure bets up front.

A lock is a player who is sure to be on the roster regardless of how much he sucks to start the upcoming season : Keith, Doughty and Weber are the only locks on defense.

Guys like Letang, PK, Pietrangelo are probably pretty close to being a lock....but they might be left out if they have a horrid start to their season (doubtful obviously)

Amongst forwards, the locks are Crosby, Stamkos, Toews, Nash......regardless of how bad they suck to start the year, they are making the team.

Guys like Tavares, Giroux, Perry, E. Staal, Getzlaf are the next closest thing to being locks and should all be there also.....

I wanna see Duchene make it.....although reports from Colorado last season were that he was pretty lazy and never made the extra effort to work harder....but over a 2 week tournament span, who cares...

Seabrook (you need another big body on D)

Goalies:

Luongo

Crawford (but I'd rather see Ward.....but he's not there)

reporterchris: The roster size for the Sochi Olympics has been extended to 25 from 23 previously. Canada likely to have 14F, 8D, 3G.

PK and Price can resuscitate the hi-lo.

I'm disappoint that Denmark didn't qualify. I wanted to see Lars Eller dominate the tournament and lead his nation to another miracle on ice.

Zeke has Subban as like the 10th dman, he actually has Pietrangelo and Phaneuf ahead of him.

I'd have Pietrangelo about even with PK and I think they'd be a great pairing.

My D pairing if the tournament started now,

Doughty-Weber
Keith-Seabrook
Pietrangelo-Subban
Letang as a PP specialist with minimal 5 on 5 ice time.
Marc Staal as an eight d-man.

Not sure I'm sld on Seabrook and Staal there, but pretty much those make sense to me. My only flaw with the Canada D is that it's actually too many RH shots out there. Doughty, Weber, Seabrook, Pietrangelo, Subban, Letang are all natural righties. That's pretty much the only reason I'd consider putting Phaneuf or J-Bo out there, to get us more LH shots.

J-Bo before Phaneuf.......because J-Bo is a better skater, and on the big ice surface you need this.....
