He was worth the money in year one for sure, but I have a suspicion that is likely to be the only year of the contract where that is the case.I've been as vocal as anyone about not wanting JT, but even I'm willing to accept two things
1) He was worth the money in year 1
2) He sucked dick last year, but having a baby in the summer (with a wife who allegedly wouldn't allow a nanny) really fucks with off season training. He just looked weaker on the puck this year.
The guy has always been a hard working gud pro, so I'm hoping that the covid time is being well spent from a fitness standpoint. Because yeah, paying 11m a year to the ~20th best centre in hockey strikes me as a bad idea. We need him to be that top 10 centre he was from his first season for as long as possible. The last few seasons of the contract were always likely to suck.
