OT: American Politics

My "argument" (in quotes because I don't really care about this issue) isn't grounded by religion.

I see this as a rights issue. As long as same sex couples get all of the same legal and financial benefits as opposite sex couples then I'm not sure why this debate still rages?

All over the use of a word?

your side in this debate seems to think that the use of that word means everything.

I defended the other side of the argument based on what I knew at the time and what the counter arguments of my Muslim friends were....but after my own digging

Muhammed was definitely a pedophile

My side thinks the word and practice should be abolished, actually.

though my side, admittedly, consists of just me.

I feel like I am a bit of a one-man show myself, to be honest.

My position isn't over radical. Everyone gets the same rights, straight people get to keep a word that apparently means so much to them, gays get their own special word that they can eventually ruin.

marriage pre-dates christianity, I believe.

christians shouldn't get to define it for themselves.

just get out of the cult now while it's not too late, corky. no reason to determine your world views based on a 2000 year old book put together and edited by a bunch of power hungry pedophiles.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

There's no surprise there, it was obvious from the outset that Dale didn't commit a crime, as no one ever claimed he was trespassing on Ford's property. However, it still doesn't make Dale any less of a slimeball for skulking around at the back of the mayor's house at 8PM while taking pictures. Especially when this is a man who's been the victim of death threats and a home invasion.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I mean't the article you posted. Specifically this part...

Their hate on for Ford and his brother is bordering on obsession.

Except the Ford's actually said all those things. There are quotes at the bottom of the article.

Okay, what about we gave women the same rights as men, but in the constitution and all legal documents, they had to be defined as "female people". Would that have been acceptable?

or better yet people and black people

There were no pictures on his phone. The one he tried to take didn't save. He was being a thorough reporter. Ford knows who Dale is, once he saw him there any perceived 'threat' would clearly be quashed. He was doing this in daylight. He tried to get aerial pictures from the TRCA, but they couldn't get them to him before his deadline, so he went to investigate himself.

If he'd written a story about the land without having seen it everyone would be calling him a lousy reporter for writing about a parcel of that he has no idea what it looks like.

cork the thing about calling it "gay marriage" instead of just "marriage" is it doesn't remove the stigmatization or differentiation in the eyes of government regarding gay people.

Catholic worship borders on polytheism in my opinion and as a Presbyterian that is not acceptable. Their God worship of Mary is even stranger.

There's only God. No spirit or Jesus hyphenated God crap.

some christian groups think that LDS and JW are not actually christian because they do not believe in trinity

and ya.... not that i think the 10 commandments mean anything but they break two
Thou shalt have no other gods
No graven images or likenesses
