OT: The Toronto Blue Jays

That's part of it for sure. The other is his complete ineptude at handling the bullpen and pitching staff, and his inability to motivate a young team when he was hired specifically because it was thought he would work well with youngsters.

Plus awful in game decisions.

Seems to me after his long and detailed search for a manager, AA got duped. Just like some of his trades.

I hereby take away the title of ninja from AA. He is now at the rank of struggling GM.

How he proceeds from here will either make him or break him. He has promise and has done a lot of good things but the shine is off him now. He has to really prove himself now. Crunch time.

I think the writing on the wall for Farrel was what Vizquel said and Farrels poor response to it.

I have got to tell you, the way I was attacked a couple of weeks ago when I posted that the Jays clubhouse was out of control and then told where was the proof, plus the media is always wrong...I feel vindicated.

Though its very hollow since the team is down and out.

Meh. He watched his lineup and rotation get gutted by injury this season. It's really hard to draw any sort of conclusions about the club he's put together.

I was tired of Farrell by May.....of last year.

I found his bullpen use questionable...but the players seemed to like him and everything was heading in the right direction. His inability to keep everyone united through the struggles of the 2nd half though, yeah, it's time for him to go elsewhere.

Yeah, it's an easy time to pile on, that's for sure. Some of the criticisms listed above are really over-blown. I like Farrell, without the knowledge of exactly what has gone on behind the scenes, I'd be fine bringing him back. If the team has decided to move on that's fine too. It's up to AA, he knows a lot more than we do about the situation, but it's really hard to judge Farrell on anything this season because it's been a complete shit-show, largely because of injuries which are beyond his control.

I generally agree, with one caveat. Yeah...injuries sucked the life out of the club and he can't be faulted for that, but watching the morale of the club disintegrate and him lose control of the clubhouse over the last month or so...those are the things a good manager just doesn't do if he's got the ear of his ball club.

This exemplifies my problems with Farrell. You would expect the team to play a little more poorly obviously, especially with injuries to so many regulars, but the manner in which the entire team just rolled over, is particularly damning of Farrell. That shows that he lacks some semblance of control over the clubhouse. Good managers should be effective motivators, and not only that, but they should be able to maintain control and order when things are going poorly. The team only got send on an even worse tailspin as the year progressed though and that's on Farrell.

Frankly, I don't see how he can be kept after the finish to the season. It's not like we're talking about a guy with a great track record, or who has been a spectacular in game manager. The entire idea behind him was that he's a player's manager who is developing his game/bullpen management as we go. When a player's manager loses the players...well...cya.

Murphy I can see the argument for...Bautista & Encarnacion becoming Kryptonians under his care is impressive....though I definitely grasp the counter argument there with so many guys having down seasons, or just not developing under his watch.

This board is too fickle.

This season has been a train-wreck. I don't think all the blame should be put on John Farrel for the season going down the toilet. Who would've known our alleged "ace" would fall off the face of the earth? Brendan Morrow being out half the year? Jose Bautista our MVP being out for half the year? Our closer gone for the year before playing a game. Too many injuries to put the blame on the manager.

I agree that he hasn't handled the media overly well, but its tough a tough market here in Toronto. We should be well aware, seeing as we are Leafs fans after all.

AA is in for an interesting offseason. Does he make a managerial change? It'll be brutal to see the 3rd coach here in 4 years. Talk about instability. Sometimes the players need to be held accountable for their inability to produce. Has anyone watched Colby Rasmus the last 2 years here? Awful.

I think A LOT of the "clubhouse" issues have been stirred up by the media and overblown. The team crumbled with injuries. NO kidding no one cares.

The one thing that i can say makes me question John Farrell was his inability to completely shut down the Boston Red Sox rumors. It created a whirlwind of bad publicity for the team, which in my opinion could have been avoided with a strong denial to the media. Regardless his intentions in the offseason, he could've played the whole ordeal off better.
