Here is a good source of discussion

Give a donation to hospital... get tax receipt and bill is paid... everyone is happy....

BKerr explained it a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember the exact reasoning behind it but in short it's not allowed under the CBA.

There must be ways around it though.

Wait a minute.....the kid isn't a Canadian citizen but didn't he purchase some sort of health care coverage.

People who go on vacation for a week purchase some coverage...am I missing something?

are we up full tits to the cap?

otherwise give Budaj a $120K "bonus" and he passes along $100K to Bozon (Budaj keeps 20% for his trouble)

No, I think you solved it.

chances are the coverage you purchase for your vacation would not cover this

Provided there is an avenue (withing NHL rules) for the Habs to pay for his medical bills they may not be obligated to do it... but it's extremely cheap and disgusting for them not to pay.

I agree with you . . . unless they need that extra $100,000 to keep Vanek. Then . . . best of luck Tim. Priorities . . .

It's cheap not to pay $100,000.00? You truck drivers must be .5% types.

Or if they have to cancel free chicken wings...désolé Timothé

Last night on twitter, some were ripping me a new one over my view that Geoff has no obligation to pay for Tim Bozon's medical bills. I stated that there could be cap implications (not sure) if we did as while he is under contract with an ELC, he plays in junior, not on the team etc.

Needless to say, internet indignation took over and I was ripped for being heartless, a moron (not the first time someone has called me that so who cares), told to shut up, Geoff should pay for the family etc.

What sayest thou, should the Canadiens pay for a non hockey illness for a player not playing for the team at this time?

shut up you heartless moron.

exactly, he should have medical insurance as employee of the WHL team.

agree with you , but shouldnt the 3 major leagues have some sort of league fund that pays for these medical situations . Employers have medical coverage for their workers and include short and long term and cover a good range of medical expenses.
