Hockey Media & Business Thread

that is what happens when we miss the playoffs two years in a row.

If TVA goes away, I am sure RDS can pick up the remaining 22 Canadiens' games and become the national broadcaster again. That could then allow those of us outside our viewing region to dump Centre Ice.

Nah, that's what happens when you overpay for TV rights for national broadcasts on Wednesday & Saturday when less and less people watch TV. RDS could afford not to overpay as they already have a lot of other content, while TVA Sports didn't have much of anything. And even then, RDS was able to acquire the regional games as TVA Sports probably didn't have the money to spend for those. It simply wasn't a sustainable business model.

I didn't really mind either of those guys, despite their flaws. Then again, I don't really mind any of them too much, never did. Familiarity I guess....I guess I get used to whomever and have a tougher time with change.:)

Sportsnet seems to be changing personnel a lot since becoming a player.

Bell came out looking real smart after that deal. TVA Sports is bleeding money and while I don't think Rogers is going to sweat the TV deal they signed, I'm not convinced they ended up making a real profit out of it.

My buddy works at Rogers and says they are bleeding money from this deal , the reason why they are hacking and slashing in many departments

Twitter is not real life. I don't take any trend on Twitter seriously.

Plenty of people dislike him, but there are plenty (like me) who do like him a lot.

Still a surprising demotion. Not sure why NBC did this.

I get the feeling that it might be mutual. He had cancer not too long ago and he's been traveling like a maniac for close to two decades to do all of the hockey-related things he's involved in. I think it just might be mutual.
