You'd think ~2ish mill would open up a slew of other backups to us. Any names in mind?Trade barrie for a goalie.

The only way you should trade Barrie at this point is if, for some godforsaken reason, you're planning to stick with Babcock as this team's coach for the remainder of this season, or at least for the foreseeable future.
If not, then keep him so we can see what he looks like with a coach who takes his shackles off and plays to his strengths.
Our new D is...
Rielly Ceci
Muzzin Holl
Dermott Barrie

Trading a guy with Barries skill set for a career backup is a fireable offence
I expect that from Nonis but I believe Dubas knows what he has in him and may look to use this lull as an advantage to get him signed to a friendly deal
Can't see Barrie even being interested in re-signing right now with this team.
Eww.Casey DeSmith.
There's a massive likelihood of Barrie going to Pittsburgh, resigning and then ripping our faces off for the next 5-6 years there though.
P.s.
Engvall >>> Gauthier
Oh absolutely. There's very little chance the Goat survives under a new coach. He's terrible. As usual, part of the problem is Babcock's usage of him and instead of turning him into a hard skating forechecker (which he might have actually carved out a role as a decent one) has turned him into a defensive zone "specialist".
