Habs Evolving Roster - Lead up to 2020-21 Training Camp

He'll play tough with them all.

Armia should sign cheaply if they want to retain him.

Gallagher will eventually come to terms I think.

Danault will have to temper expectations or he's gone.

Tatar is toast and should be moved at deadline.

Weal is gone or will be signed to a low contact that can be buried.

KK will resign

Lehkonen won't be that expensive. He needs to figure out how to sign KK, Gallagher, Danault, Armia, lehkonen for 22m which I think can be done. Also remember that whoever we lose to the expansion draft will come off the cap hit.

When are arbitration cases scheduled? To me that’s the huge milestone, if teams walk away from good players who win cases (which I expect), the market will be flooded with talent and $alarie$ should crash through the floor

in a flat cap world, what is Armia worth? 2? Lehkonen? 2? Kotkaniemi will get more, but will he get more than 3 or 3.5?. Danault is the guy I'd bring back, but has to be at the right price.

Tatar can/should be moved. Same with Gallagher if he starts wanting more than 6. Term is super important with him as well. Both would bring a good return at the deadline

6 - Gallagher
6 - Danault
3 - Armia
3 - Lehkonen
3 - KK (bridge deal)
1 - Tatar replacement (rookie)

That's tight and a big if on KK.

Maybe Ylonen can replace Lehkonen, and bank on Caufield to replace Tatar. Or Poehling takes a big step up this year to set himself as a Danault replacement.

If I'm Armia, I ain't signing cheaply. I'm betting on myself that I can score 20 goals.

20 goals + size = getting overpaid.

They're not trading Lehkonen or letting him go. He's Julien's Swiss army knife. Coach's favorite.

He's not a 20 goal guy. Maybe on a shit team with a ton of top six minutes but otherwise? Nope.

You might be right, but he's not thinking that. If he can come close to replicating what he did last year (16 goals in 58 games) someone will pay him.

Everything hinges on how all of them perform this year. If they play well and others don't then maybe others get moved and they get signed, like Byron. A lot could happen.

I also think MB is hoping they play out of their minds this season so that they can save his butt.

he can bet on that, but considering he's never done it, not sure that's a smart bet on his part.

This cap crunch is going to affect players like him the most. The middle class suffers the most.

he was on pace to score 20 last year....In fact if you include playoffs, he scored 19 in 68 games.

I'm not quite sure what exactly he's being paid for, it's not like he won a cup. I can understand that contract if he had won one or two cups but really, why give it to him?
the worst is how they signed him a year early

the year they should have signed him he put up a massive .900 save percentage

I'd rather lose Gallagher for nothing than re-sign him to a bad contract.

In an ideal world, trade him to a contender and get a 1st+ in return.
