The MotherFucking Off-Season Thread

He may be their best trade chip for a goalie in a time where many teams will need to either expose a good goalie or trade one. Well the leafs will either need to expose kerf or trade him. Win-win for both teams

I don't think Soderberg has played much center in the NHL btw. He's less of a center than kerf is I'm pretty sure. So I wouldn't sign him as a kerf replacement.

I'm not really wild about either Soderberg or Haula as Kerf replacements, tbh. Just seemed like the best available options still on the market.

But I expect them to hang on to Kerfoot at this point. He can play center and he can play wing, he can play in your bottom-6 or move up to left wing on one of the top two lines, and he can kill penalties for you. I think the Leaf lineup as currently constructed needs that kind of versatility out of the guy filling Kerfoot's role, and it'd be tough to replace that for less money.

He's their most important guy in the bottom six and they have no other real needs to be addressed elsewhere in the lineup. Any cap savings they'd get from trading him wouldn't exactly be worthwhile. At this point you'd be trading him just to trade him. And then you'd try to find another Kerfoot. So it's a no brainer to keep him.

Him AJ and Kapanen were always going to be moved eventually. His next contract will be too rich and they simply can't afford to keep a middle class. I think he's the ticket to bring in a goalie on a team that will need to expose a damn good goalie. Again, I see leafs protecting 4 d so kerf will be exposed anyway. That's when you look at trading him. There should be win-win trades available for teams with two good goalies. But not now.

Koivu and soderberg i find somewhat interesting as they actually have received very tough usage the past 2yrs and held their own. Soderberg has maintained solid production too, and while Koivu's offense slipped thats probably a style/team thing as his PP production says that he's still got skill. Even then these guys are both old and risky.

Haula i don't see it. Decent 3rd line offense but he's been kinda getting buried against just medium 3rd line qoc the past 2yrs.

Those relative numbers don't seem like much.
Well you got to be more familiar with them to get the proper sense of scale I guess. Ita not the same type of number that naturalststtrick uses. Those are pretty extreme numbers both ways.

I thought those were xg%rel, no?

Let's look at some variations. For instance, Jumbo during his time with SJ ranged from -3.35 to +9.58 on xg%rel. What does that say to you?
