New Canadian Politics Thread

does this mean everyone will be jamming grocery stores hoarding toilet paper again?

This is really starting to look like what we all expected a Doug Ford managed pandemic effort to look like....

I haven’t been following that closely; is the knock that he should have re-instated this shutdown earlier?

They should allocate all their resources hiring Semitic ppl to patrol Christmas. That’s gonna be superspreader x 10000000000

There's a number of knocks, but yeah. Their plan for the school year was basically to not give the boards the tools to make a plan that didn't include an emphasis on having the kids back to school. His colour coded chart plan was to take the work of professionals and gently adjust the values to make the entire thing worthless as a covid management strategy, he's sitting on 9+ billion of undistributed federal covid assistance funds, etc.

Even the shutdown stuff is kind of hilarious. Schools can stay open, real estate open houses are still a go as long as there is a maximum of 10 people in the home and "social distancing" is maintained, etc, etc, etc.

and then there's the whole gutting on Ontario public health prior to the pandemic bit because when the fuck are we ever going to need those bureaucrats?

There have been some true shitshows at individual school boards (including the one my kids are a part of) but on the whole schools don’t seem to be the problem. For some reason transmission rates are quite low among the little ones.

Other aspects of pandemic management have been very poor, agreed.
