Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

First line invalidates the entire paragraph

Yeah, I can see someone being high on the Habs if they're under the assumption that Carey Price is still an elite goalie. We all know that to not be the case anymore.
Allen will make it so. A rested Price is still elite.

I agree that MTL should be good but lots of people are just assuming Price is the guy from last years playoffs and not the guy who posted a .900, .918 and .909 sv % the last 3 years.

Average or below goaltending and lack of highend forwards is a worst case scenario. Im still confused why the Habs went with Anderson, Edmunson over Hall and Hamonic (or any other bargain defender this year).
Now do the numbers when he’s rested. That was the whole point of getting Allen.

Anyway, I get it’sa show me don’t tell me situation. I think they’ll show it. Maybe not early because of no exhibition games but they’ll come together around ten games in I think.

hey now that they have Jake Allen, they have the most super elite mediocre goalie tandem in hockey. most affordable too

Was he injured in 17-18? His workload the last 2 years has been in line with his elite years. We dont really have a baseline to do a regression based on being rested.

I hope the habs do figure it out, nothing else to do this winter than watch hockey so may as well make it as entertaining as possible.

Yup.

Leafs are the team to beat, no question. I’m just liking the Habs chances at hanging with them.

Of course in this weird condensed year anything can happen, especially injuries. Team health will be a big factor.

team health and covid outbreaks

Montreal is a solid team, but in a division with teams that have elite talent like Matthews/Marner/Tavares, McDavid/Draisaitl, and Pettersen/Hughes, I don't see them competing for the top spot. Playoff spot, sure.

If they’re not competing for a top spot in the division they’re not competing for the playoffs. By your logic they’ll be fourth in the division at best. I disagree with that assessment.

The Habs need Suzuki and KK to play like solid #2 pivots to escape playoff bubble mediocrity. Not a slam dunk but their best hope in years...and not an unreasonable parlay.

Top four in each division? That’s how they’re doing it this season? I didn’t read that anywhere.

Sounds like somebody is crying about the Habs being underestimated by me even though I've been higher on the Habs than most anyone the past few years. Even said they had a solid chance to beat the pens.
that doesnt make me feel any better

The Leafs are the best by far. It’s not a very good division. But I’m not betting against the elite skills the Oilers and Canucks in this division.

especialy in a short season with no preseason. It should be a lot of sloppy, high scoring, early season hockey.

Armia just got his playing time (including PP time) jacked by Anderson and Toffoli, so there will be declines there just on that alone. If he scores 15 goals from the 3rd line, that's a great year for him.

Byron already had shot creation decline pretty evident before the injuries. Now he's an almost 32 yr old midget speedster coming off of a bad knee injury who won't get within screaming distance of talented linemates or PP time. 10-12 would be a nice bounce back from him.
armia is a guy that seems to generate a bunch but doesnt produce

byron is done

habs season will come down to if the PP is decent or not

they are a good xf% team
