Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Tampa really lucked out that this is all happening while they spend a yr in a crap division sans Bruins or Leafs

depends on if this is a surgery that Kuch absolutely needed, now, or if it is just a convenient time to surgically address a minor nagging issue...

They could also be going with the most conservative possible recovery time to ensure he doesn’t come back in-season and have to be added back to their cap. That he has more time to heal is just an added benefit.

Similar to what the Leafs did in the year they tanked for Matthews when in the back half of the schedule, pretty much anyone who had an injury that required medical treatment was shut down for the rest of the season.

i like the baseball style series for the NHL this year

It's something that I hope survives into the post covid world. These guys do way too much pointless traveling. If you're playing Carolina 3 times this year, why not bang it out in a week? Makes it way easier for fans to travel for games as well. Timmy and I have done the run through Florida before and as awesome as it is, it's kind of shit. I'd much rather just spend a week in Tampa watching them play 4 times....and wtf is the point of passing through every WC city twice?

I believe Toews was one of the players really pushing this style of schedule pre-Covid. It absolutely makes a stupid amount of sense if you can make it work.

Nah, doing it that way is stupid.

What if we're playing Boston three times in that week and Matthews and Marner are injured and will miss all three games?

well the injury bug could happen to the Bruins instead... hard to make injuries fair

It's such an obvious solution long-term that it never crossed my mind. Genius. Everyone wins really.

Sure, but it'd be just as stupid regardless of which team experiences it.

You can't have so much riding on one random week of games against one opponent, especially one within your division.

Yeah but playing Ottawa four straight games? Calgary 5 times in 12 days only broken up by two against Edmonton?

It’ll get a little boring but the hate for these teams will likely grow.

You're right. It should just be Leafs versus Habs for 56 games, and then we play someone else in the playoffs since they won't get in this time after going 0-56.
