OT: Movies/TV Shows

So I kinda like WandaVision. It seems to be put together by a team that has a real affection for old TV comedies and comdey tropes.

I thought that they would be doing a sitcom from every decade, so I thought the first episode was doing "I Love Lucy", but Dezi was a Bandleader and didn't do a 9-5 gig. So then I thought: Olsen is doing Mary Tyler Moore, and that makes a lot of sense, so the First Episode is "The Dick Van Dyke Show".

The second is clearly "Bewitched".

I hear the third is "The Brady Bunch" as they move into the 70's. I wonder if we will get an "All in the Family"/"Good Times" vibe to it. Really any Norman Lear show.

Waiting for "The Crosby Show" and "Friends" takeoff. Maybe "Mad About You" as there has to be a couple in it

So I watched it anyway because my wife wanted to see it....woof. What in the **** did they do to Wonder Woman? If you're going to spend almost 90 minutes to get the movie started, how did almost no character development or anything remotely interesting happen?
the first scene of kid wonder woman was fun

I guess, maybe. I'm not a fan of the campy 70's & 80's era superhero stuff (Hulk, WW, Superman, etc), so paying homage to that didn't do a lot for me. I'll say this, of everything that occurred in the first ~60 minutes, at least it was the honest and decent execution of some sort of filmmaking or storytelling concept.

You don't know what you're missing.

When I was a little kid, my aunts in LA were well aware of my superhero obsession, especially Spidey.

So one time I got like three VHS tapes in the mail, and when I popped them in the VCR, it was a few of these live action Spiderman episodes. Back then, no internet, no reruns really since it was several years after it aired (maybe a decade), so I didn't even know the show existed. What a thrill.

Unrelated thrill - as a comic fanboy, I recently got referred a client whose work for DC and Marvel I've kinda been obsessed with for 20+ years now. Pretty fucking cool even though 99.9% of the world wouldn't know him or his name.

While Mandalorian showed how cool Star Wars can be again, Discovery did the exact opposite for the Star Trek universe.

what a dreadful piece of crap. this is definitely the Phantom Menace of the franchise.

Hell, that Picard show was better than this drivel.
