OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

For groceries you can do curbside pickup in most places. Maybe in small towns you’d also have to mandate that stores offer that service.

I don’t doubt that you have to spend an incredible amount of time dealing with medical exemptions. When my first kid was born and it was time for the pediatrician to talk vaccines, we couldn’t believe how delicately they broached the issue. This was in Vancouver, I guess they dealt with this a lot. My wife and I just genuinely burst out laughing and reassured the doctors that, for the same reasons we went to a hospital to have a baby, we trusted medical professionals to guide our child’s vaccine schedule. I feel great sympathy for anyone who devotes their life to caring for patients, and then has to deal with those patients questioning their advice because of some meme on Facebook.
I noticed the same thing in Edmonton.

They were like WTF when I asked them at what age they can get the flu shot (not a standard vaccine - and the answer is at 6 months btw) as if somebody being pro vaccine was rare

The day after getting the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine my arm was pretty sore... And I was pretty achy overall. Today I'm mostly back to normal. My arm has some minor discomfort.

Hate to hear about a doctor having to spend their day dealing with idiots asking for mask exemptions. If I was a doctor I would quite likely have lost my license by now over this. I'm sure there are a small percentage of people who legit need one, but most of these people are full of shit.

A bit of a rosier picture here. If we approve 'em all, which seems likely we could have 23m folks done by the end of June. 30m people is kinda the upper scale on those expected to be vaccinated as some will refuse and others are too young (though children will eventually be approved, probably by the summer).

So theoretically we could even be pretty much done by July, though I am expecting a bit of lag in terms of us administering our entire supply. I keep saying it, but Q1 has always been a write-off so quit your whining. They've been very transparent with that.

An update released today. Things looking rosier and rosier! Keep in mind I don't really expect more than 30m to be vaccinated at least until children are approved. So by the end of June we could have enough supply for at least two thirds of the country. Pretty exciting. Q2 is going to be crazy fast. I just reallllly hope Ontario can handle the pace (doubtful, I know).

With the way numbers have been dropping in some countries (US, India, Canada) it does feel like there's something going on besides just better compliance and some vaccines being distributed. Maybe seasonal factors, maybe some unrecognized strain that produces so little immunoresponse it goes undetected. I don't know.

It's very interesting, yeah. Leaving lots of smart folks perplexed.

I have a niece who thinks the masks are useless, but more importantly to her she doesn't think people should be given grief if they aren't wearing one because, "they could have asthma like me"....

First of all, you can wear a mask with asthma, secondly she has never...I repeat...never...brought up asthma, let alone as an impediment in her active early-20''s lifestyle, but now she wears a shield as protest because she just can't handle the mask what with her awful asthma.

I cannot wait til we are back together again, because I will never let her forget about her asthma....ever.
"You're not coming are you? What about your asthma?"
"No, you stay here, we'll go...wouldn't want you to have an asthma attack."

I figure at least 5 years before I let up.

My son and granddaughter suffer from severe asthma. They both wear masks consistently and have told me ( because I’ve asked) that their use of inhalers has not increased and in fact, decreased. Anecdotal sure but I gotta call bs. Especially because of my granddaughter as she has a very severe case of it.

Now try it from the perspective of having lost faith long ago.
Habsy was right all along... I'm too young!

But seriously, I never had much faith in people but they somehow didn't come close to meeting my already extremely low expectations. Kind of depressing in many ways.

I always think those people are stupid because if you have a condition that makes it difficult to breath with a mask, you DEFINITELY SHOULD BE WEARING A MASK SO YOU DON'T GET COVID DUMMY

Well, masks are more about protecting others than yourself, so there's at least a sliver of argument there. But if you have a condition where you can't wear a mask, we're in a freaking pandemic, so you should not be going anywhere where you would be required to wear one.

I'm sure I'll be hearing all about Price being an elite goalie when he's rested as I burn in hell
We’ll discuss over a beverage. That and why he and Matthews got to go to Heaven while we spend eternity as Islander fans.

It's almost like a mask filters out large particular pollutants in everyday air that may exacerbate asthma symptoms or something.
