Unfortunately, there's no room for that banner at the Bell Centre...but Claude should include that tidbit in his LinkedIn profile.

Anyway, the bigger problem is ownership....but that can't be changed that easily.
 
He's a bit old schooly with a lot of things for me. But you can't argue that he gets the most out of middling talent. Curious to see how they perform with a new coach post-honeymoon.

TL DR

Julien sucks. Since being hired by Habs, their PP is 26th best in the league; PK is 29th.
Before being fired by Bruins, team was headed for its 3rd straight year of not making the playoffs. Guys like Bergeron and Marchand were just 60 point players. They completely changed their style of play; no longer signing big guys like David Backes. Their PP was middle of the pack under Julien, with the same guys, Bruins PP is now #1.

Problem here is the Habs won't hire the best coach for their club like the Bruins did.

I still think it is premature and even though that game last night made my head explode this is a knee-jerk reaction that tells me Bergevin is on the hot seat himself.

As the numbers bear out, the Habs are a good team with piss-poor special teams numbers that never seem to improve. That's on coaching.

I will also posit that had the Gallagher goal counted Julien would not have been fired.

He didn't get the most out of the Bruins during his last 3 yrs there. The game has changed; Claude did not.
 
It's kind of a win-win for me.

If the Habs play better, it's a plus
If they don't; string chance Bergevin is next...also a plus

He kinda did though. He got the most out of their middling talent, similar to what the Habs have. He didn't, however, get the most out of their star players.
 
I feel like Claude got the most out of this lot and raised expectations so unrealistically high that he got himself fired

Legit good goal differential with a mediocre starting goalie and saddled with Edmontonson? This is a bad fire

Yeah I wasn't exactly endorsing him in my post. I don't know if he's the guy to put teams over the top. I do think he was quite good for a minimally talented team like the Habs. With or without him, they're probably going nowhere anyway. So it doesn't matter. Might as well get a fresh look there.

He's the type of coach that wants guys like Edmundson, tho. Just like he wanted Backes in Boston.

i dunno about banner but i'd say the Habs still have an impressive win/loss record given their talent level.

And enter another decade of futility. For the same reason regime change is good, it's also bad for the fans.
 
Of course the delicious irony in all this is that its the Canadian Media's Leafs-Hate that artifically raised expectations and hype for a team that finished 24th in the league last year.

the 3 on 3 (along with the SO, the PK, the PP) and Julien do not get along -- he chose Chariot over Mete on a 3 on 3 the other night.
