2021 Draft Thread

I don't know much about prospects but is he good enough to draft in the 1st? Looks like a dman with upside on offense. He shared a pic, I think the public here can live with that.

These are some guys that look interesting to me on a quick perusal. They are in order of how I might rank them for us for our first round pick. But I am assuming they will be gone by then. I've left off the main names from the top 10 or so for obvious reasons.

Kent Johnson
Cole Sillinger
Chad Lucius
Mason McTavish
Nikita Chibrikov

But who knows.. with the uncertainty this year it may be a simple dice roll. How about these guys, from a little further back, as first round or beyond possibilities? Ranked in no particular order.

Xavier Bourgault
William Stromgren
Sami Salminen
Ayrton Morton
Sebastien Cossa

Interesting second rounders, or first if its all thinned out by the time we pick?

Daniel Chayka
Stanislav Svozil
Matt Coronato
Logan Stankoven

Projected late first, early to mid second. Never seen him play, don't know much about him.

I'd take him with our 2nd rounder if he's there. He did something really douchey but he seems remorseful. I very much condemn the action.... but at 17 years old it's not something that should destroy the kid's life.

That said, they don't give specifics... so if it turns out that there's more than it sounds like... I reserve the right to change my mind.

Have teams not learned from previous drafts ?

There is no way a dmen should go #1....ever.....when was the last dmen to go #1 and actually pan out potential-wise ?

Even Dahlin, who will be great once Sabres get their shit together, would not go #1 in a redraft...

Always take the best forward available at #1

That's not true, it's simply that we don't have enough information when drafting players at 18 years old. High-end forwards are a lot easier to identify simply because of their offensive production.

There's a reason that all the generational d-men since Potvin were never in consideration for being taken first overall. You simply don't know.

Btw, Dahlin still goes first overall in 2018, probably with relative ease too. Who's better, the second line power forward from Ottawa?

Two words: Rick Green.

Hence, why you don't take dmen #1 pick....you are gambling

Hedman vs Tavares
Pronger vs Daigle

You absolutely take the D number one in both scenarios.

...The draft is synonymous with gambling, what are you talking about? If you want to argue it's a bigger gamble, that wee don't have enough information to justify taking a d-man over a forward, then fine.

Every single player, short of Crosby/McDavid, is a kind of gamble.

To add to AH$$$, Morgan Rielly or Yakupov/Galchenyuk?

Makar & Heiskanen are going to be in Vezina talk for the next decade. Outside of Elias Pettersson, nobody's even in the running for a re-draft.

Same draft as this one .....top 5 ...mystery who is going to emerge
