Around the League 2019-2023 Edition

True but I have to tip my hat to Dorion. While I disagree that their rebuild is done, he has amassed a nice amount of assets. Some high end.

In retrospect, the decision to low-ball Karlsson and then trade him was his best one, even if that decision was likely driven by mostly by financial considerations.

Karlsson and his contract are now looking like a pretty horrific albatross for the Sharks.

BTW, Ryan Kesler is flapping his gums about Leaf players needing to leave more on the table. That fucker signed a huge extension at age 31 when he was declining and IS STILL under contract even though he hasn't played in 2 years. Like fuck off hypocrite.
Totally. Fuck him. Leaf players should squeeze management for every penny they can get!

26.5 on 3 old, declining D per year now.

EK and Stone should of been peddled sooner , they could never keep them

Kudos to getting solid returns with a gun to their head

As for the Sharks Wilson a solid GM he was simply drunk on this one

I think he was too scared to walk away and just caved on a player in decline

Habs have made the exact same mistakes. Keeping and extending Price, Petry, Gallagher, etc.

The best obvious move was to blow it up and stockpile picks and start over. But a finals appearance now will convince Bergy that he was right all along. Let's check back in a few years.

if they get above average goaltending , yes

They don't need above average goaltending to do it, they just need it to not be tragic like last year.

Just a bit of improvement across the board and they will make it uncomfortably tight for Habs fans.

Bergy simply made the moves to take advantage of Covid

Our mistakes are different than Ottawa , we had the resources to pay

Ottawa was never going to retain their vets

Didnt need a Shanny blowup at all , systemic retool over the last decade and asset management with many vets

Sprinkle in a few years of suckage

They need their kids to take a significant leap forward , especially Batherson and Stuzle

Need to stop their multi game slumps that kill them

They were a mediocre offensive team last year and shambolic defensively. Get some stops, get down in the 18-20 range in shot against metrics and they're knocking on the door of 80 points.

They need the kids to take steps forward, but a step forward for the kids pushes Ottawa towards being a fringe top 10 offence, that's not their biggest need.

shambolic word .. beauty

With a normal 82 game season , I expect many surprises across the league
