Hopefully this reminds him that he is literally one play away from losing out on millions of dollars.

Dubas on Rielly's comps to Jones/Nurse/Werenski's contract: "You can't just look at what other teams are doing. You have to do what makes sense for your team. Look at Parayko/St. Louis and Pelech/Islanders, those guys are also #1 defensemen for their teams."

He also said there is no question they want Rielly back.

He'll try to put his foot down with Mo and not give out the $9 million deal. We'll see if he can get it done this time, but if Dubas can get Rielly long term for $6-7 mill that would be a huge win.

the numbers justified the Matthews, Marner, Willy, Tavares contracts......Rielly's numbers the last couple years haven't been near good enough to justify an elite deal.

Yep. Do you want to give him such a bigger cap hit for ages 29-27 with his performance last 2 years? He's not in the same spot as AM, MM, and WM were with their stats/performances.
