So Hyman and his wife had a pandemic baby last season, and he moved them to Edmonton. Ouch.
Imagine being born to a rich family, growing up rich, already having 11 million in personal career earnings and then voluntarily moving to Edmonton for a few extra million in career earnings? I fully support getting the bag, your career is short, make the most of it. But 7 years in Edmonton is not "the most" of it. 7 years is a long ass time, and Edmonton is one of the bottom 3 cities in the league to live in. Allegedly, Boston & Florida made "credible" offers to Hyman as well.
He probably got 10+ more mil over any other contract
I dont think anyone was going beyond 5 years
McDavid though.
Toronto allegedly offered 8.
5 year offers were probably for more AAV. I'd take 6m X 5 to play in Florida or Boston over the Edmonton contract, 100 times out of 100.
TO reports were 8x 4ish , keep the AAV low and go term and front load it as per Dreger
But I never thought for a second he was coming back or the Leafs were serious to retain him .
I applaud you guys for walking away , something we should of did with 3 fingers Gallagher or at least rip off Vancouver in a trade
Isn’t Alberta a less tax province compared to Quebec and Ontario .
I dont think FLA or any other team made any serious offers , Edmonton was all in from day 1 .
4"ish" x 8 is fairly close in total contract value to what he signed for in Edmonton. FLA & Boston allegedly made serious offers (according to the same type of sources suggesting the Leafs were in the 4 point whatever x 8 range), whether you think they did or not.
