Laval Rocket Thread

Boy, for a team that doesn't leak anything, they sure love to slander those they won't like on their way out.
It’s been that way forever. As long as I can remember. The Habs with the gold standard in ceremonies trash people on the way out. That has bugged me for some time now.

Brook had lower body surgery and won’t be back till 2022

Explains the Goloubef PTO announcement today. Giving him a shot to earn a spot for Laval.

I wonder if Brooks will be getting an NHL salary while on IR. Good for him if he does.

Looking at the Trois-Rivières Lions roster, there's currently one non-Québécois: Arsen Khisamutdinov, who barely speaks any English.

Welp, at least he'll learn parts of two languages while he's here!

Poehling is on a line at Rocket practice this morning with Harvey-Pinard and Ylonen.

Hopefully he'll be able to find his game.

Do you lie awake thinking of new ways to insult the Habs or Quebec? Or does this just come naturally to you? You do know you have an extremely prejudicial outlook on these things right?
Quebec junior hockey focuses on creating "vedettes" who can sell tickets. Junior hockey in the rest of the country focuses on using individual talent within the framework of building a good team. Therefore you get more complete, NHL ready players from the OHL and WHL than from the Q.

So much stereotypes. If only Quebec was the outlier and focused on developing individual talents instead of systems, they might actually have more NHL graduates.

Isn’t not the case there more athletes playing different sports in Quebec, notably football and winter sports? Maybe not, it just seems so.

When the divorce rate (for people who even bother to get married in the first place) is around 50% you end up with a lot of single parents (mostly mothers) who just don't have the scratch to pay for hockey equipment and league fees. Hockey is an expensive sport. That's why in the US it's mostly a rich kids sport played at private schools. Soccer, on the other hand, requires next to nothing in terms of equipment. Heck, my high school got rid of its senior football team back in 1983 because equipment costs were through the roof. I don't know if they ever bothered trying to get it back. Today it would likely be the punishing cost of liability insurance that would sink them, not that equipment has gotten any cheaper.

In the US mostly rich kids playing? Aside from Hyman name a few NHL players that came from rich families. Maybe a handful?

You continue to be lost in your stereotypes.

Tkachuk brothers, Hughes brothers (mothers family wealth) etc . There’s truth it’s mostly rich kids in the US who play hockey due to expensive nature of the sport - access to training, equipment, ice time etc.
