Team pissed away their opportunity to get Suzuki deals in return but there are deals to be made
Gally , Petry , TT , Lek , and Chariot are moveable
I think with the mindset that Weber is done , the " all in win mode " has shifted to we can`t win
Team doesnt have a better base of core youth to ease the transition , there will be pain for the next 3 years .

I don't know who they need to hire but I know who they need to fire. Bergevin and Timmins are a cancer. This team can't get better until these two tumors have been excised.

Biggest mistake was going all in on Weber , team was positioned perfectly to unload our core before they were paid albatross deals

The Weber contact is not effecting anything. Nothing.
They went for it and came up 3 wins short of ending the 29 year drought. When put into perspective, that's better than 90% of the teams over the past decade.

Believe it or not I'm enjoying this season far more than I expected to because the sheer hubris of the regime is on full display.

Except that we never had any chance of winning those 3 games so we may as well have finished 100 wins short.
And they didn't go for it when they traded for Weber. They did nothing until last year when Covid provided them with an opportunity to get lucky. Prior to that the acquisition of Weber was nothing more than a trade designed to get rid of Subban. If the Preds had refused to give up Weber and offered only Ryan Ellis instead we'd have had Ellis. The player coming to Montreal was not relevant. The priority was to get rid of a player. There was no other plan at work, then or now, as evidenced by the fact that the Weber deal was followed up with nothing for the next 5 years. It wasn't the first of a series of moves designed to win now. It was a one off deal only intended to ship a player out of town who had embarrassed management.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I’m actually loving this and cheering them to lose and for the other bottom teams to win. This team needs a top 3 pick in back to back deep drafts to be in a great position again. Can’t get into that position without new management and scouting though. New owner too but we know that ain’t happening.

Telling the guy who signs your pay cheques to go fuck himself is a great way to wind up unemployed. And you're assuming that Bergevin cares about winning any more than Molson does when in fact neither of them care that much. Molson is concerned with making money (off things like luxury boxes, for one) and Bergevin cares about his personal job security. Those considerations are each more important to them than winning. It's not that they don't want to win, or that they wouldn't be overjoyed to win, just that it isn't nearly at the top of their priority list. Winning is a "nice to have", not a "need to have". Their positions don't hinge on winning and losing the way it was 50 years ago. Back then a GM's livelihood was directly tied to the team's performance. Today, even though to outward appearances it still is it really isn't. Bergevin can totally mess this up and at some point yes he'll either quit or be fired, but if he wants another job he'll get one because the pool of experienced candidates is extremely small. And Geoff Molson will die a rich man even if the Habs never win another game.
There are simply no consequences to pay for losing anymore.
They clearly decided to stay competitive and in win now with the Weber deal
PK`s NTC was due to kick in a few days and there was no other trade on the table for Nero to take with his competitive window with Price
He totally miscalculated his team`s potential and now team is way worse than 2016 trying to deal with bad contracts

But aside from acquiring Weber what other win now moves did he make? Like I said, Weber wasn't the first in a series of moves designed to get us anywhere. Bergevin made the one trade and left everything else alone. If he really wanted to win now he needed to do more than just that one thing.
