Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Everything unfolding in disaster mode for us.

But also, NYR needs a goal, its best player delivers. Calgary needs a goal, same thing.

And it’s looking like teams that spent their 1sts at the deadline are all getting rewarded this round.

Leafs eat their hearts out again. Calgary advances.
Helps Jim Benning let Markstrom walk away (free agency) for nothing & into hands of the Flames. Cherry on top was Chris Tanev (same story, walks away for nothing). Cost the Flames nothing (except cap space) in terms of assets to obtain those two key players.

Leafs deserve their grief. 0-9 in clinching games since 2018. That is really horrific. I am so sick of this shit.
I know Calgary's stars weren't scoring goals in the series, but in game 7 they showed up and came through. Same with Oilers.

The battle of Canadian Florida overshadowing how shit the pacific division is I find infuriating
Yeah, because Columbus 2 years ago and Montreal last year were "elite".

In the deciding games over the last 3 playoffs, the Leafs got beat by "superstars" like Liam Foudy, Corey Perry (with Eric Staal chipping in 2 assists) and Nick Paul. If you think that the Leafs would have found a way to beat Dallas or Calgary the way they were playing last night then you're high on Kool-aid. Every Leafs shot attempt would get blocked and every Leafs skill player would get plastered into the glass. The Tampa series was like playing pattycake compared to the physicality of the Edmonton or Calgary series. Matthews and Marner barely got touched and they still choked when it mattered.

You want to be infuriated about something? How about being infuriated at the fact that your team spends too much money on 4 players who never show up when it matters? Be infuriated at the fact that your head coach cares about being respected in the handshake line after his team is eliminated. And if there are no significant changes made in the offseason you can be infuriated about that too. I don't give a shit who your opponent was. You lost game 7 in your own barn (again) and that has to carry consequences. People need to lose their jobs. People need to get shipped out of town. Otherwise the message being sent is that this is good enough and that is a thing you should find infuriating.

But don't hate the Oilers or Flames because they're better than you. Just accept it. Teams that win are de facto better than teams that lose. I don't care who's on your roster compared to theirs. I don't care how many points you got in the regular season compared to them nor about which opponent you drew in the first round versus what teams they did. Take your fancy stats and shove em. The bottom line is they won and you didn't so they are better than you. full stop.
