Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I’m not sure that people can turn into pedos. Certain jobs attract pedos for obvious reasons.
I've literally seen it happen with an ex employee who is currently in prison for it. The guy was married, kids and everything and the wife was shocked.

Never did find out the rest of that story.

Yeah, that's definitely a part of it...but that's what insurance is for. You create a slush fund for something like this only when you want no publicity and no accountability.

Gross
pretty sure that their policy would in fact require them to report to the insurer anything like this. super offsides and super sketchy.

NDA's, settlements, hush money - just another way to allow people with money to stay shitty.

There's a theory in psychology that is fueled by a person's options and that they literally change pathways in the brain at younger ages due to the biological need for sexual release.

This has been studied on soldiers etc for decades now. It's pretty weird but I can say people talk themselves into and out of the most bizarre and disgusting things.
Being talked into, or talking yourself into something is not the same as liking it, I think. I've always found the prison thing bizarre...just can't equate a tough con also wanting a bj from a guy, and hopefully I will never need to understand this.

Obviously pedophiles have their wires crossed, whether that is something that happens biologically or something happens to them when they are young is interesting, would not be surprised if it can be both, but we've known for a long time that children are malleable, especially pre-7, and a lot of damage can be done by then.
I suppose people can be born damaged, but my guess is most often it's nurture over nature.

On a lighter note, I wonder if everybody's sexual kinks could be traced, psychologically speaking, to events they might not even remember lol or at least happened when they were too young to even know what's going on?

Can't remember another time when one of the top guys was lingering like he is after a week.

Competitive shmompetitive. At this point, it has to have some impact on his market value. People cool off, and now he's lost the mad hysteria mindset of NHL GMs in the first few days of free agency. Some have returned to their senses, some went with plan B, some used up their money on other fronts. I really can't imagine he has more than 1-2 suitors waiting around, and whoever is supposedly trying to make room via trades to add him would've probably done so by now? Wouldn't be at all surprised if he ends up just signing with one of the teams with space and then they all play it off as him wanting to be there all along. Still feel Calgary, but NYI makes most sense now.

I was hoping for Naz’s sake that someone would toss a stupid amount of money at him. Would’ve been a nice cap to a year where he had a career season and won a Cup.

But I guess he’s got a couple of things working against him. One is the league’s general racism, and the widespread dislike there seems to be for Naz on a personal level.

Then there’s his age, and the fact that he had this one huge outlier season after a career of topping out more at the 50-60 point level. Makes it hard to price out a term or AAV for him.

I will admit that the longer he’s out there, the more I kinda wish Dubas would find a way to bring him home.

I'd like to see him back too. He'd be that extra forward I've been pushing for. But I get cold feet with his age and his outlier season. I'd LOVE him for 2 years and $5M-$6M or something like that, but say it was a 5x5 deal...I don't even know if I'd want to touch that. So, I'll be very surprised if someone is crazy enough to go big money $7M-$8M x 6-7 years or something.
