OT: NFL Thread

Salary does matter, tho.

If you’re shelling out 50M, that QB better be elite enough to overcome shortcomings elsewhere on the roster where allocated dollars are scarce. Dak clearly doesn’t do that.

In fact, most recent Super Bowls have been won by QBs on a team friendly rookie contract + money generously lavished throughout the roster.

Last yr was an exception and perhaps Mahomes will win this year. He certainly is elite enough.

The other 3 teams left in the hunt are all led by QBs on their rookie deals.

QBs who are definitely better than Dak, without argument, in this order:

Mahomes
Burrow
Lawrence
Herbert

QBs who are most likely better than Dak, but...

Allen
Jackson

QBs who have an argument, but I'd probably have Dak above 'em all:

Hurts
Goff
Watson
Cousins
Tua
Murray

I don't think there's a single QB you could even make an argument is better than Dak. Ryan Tannehil? Daniel Jones? Matthew Stafford? Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Justin Fields, Derek Carr? Please.

The highlited I take clearly over DAK , strictly based on the IT factor and who can win a game

There is no fucking way Dallas loses on the weekend with Rodgers or Brady

Last year wasn’t an exception. Stafford salary cap was 20M for the Rams (however they also had a large cap hit on Goff).

Brady is 2021 was the QB with the largest cap hit to win at 25M (12.61%).

He also benefits from one of the best offensive lines in football and a pretty good wide receiver core because of his rookie contract.

Fun stat: Philly rushed for something like 280 yards against the Giants. 150 of those yards came before first contact.

Throwing's a lot easier if the other team has to stack the box out because they're scared of the run game and there's more open space for WRs.

All things being equal, though? No idea if Hurts is a good QB or not. If he continues playing like this when he's got a $45M+ caphit instead of a $4.7M, then I'll conceded: He's elite. Until then, I'll keep a heavy dose of skepticism that a guy who had problems making reads in college suddenly fixed that at the NFL level.
You realize that Dak was a 4th round pick, right? Not that it’s the be all and end all but Hurts had a much better college career than Prescott, and I think he’s still better than him.

You can win a SB with a highly paid Mahomes but the regime needs to nail the drafts and find cost effective UFA`s who over shoot their pay

Yeah, that means nailing the other 30ish players to perfection. Not a small task. We’ll see how the Chiefs do against the Bengals.

The beauty of the NFL is flexibility and abundance of talent available

Mahomes already restructured his contract to help the team

The draft produces instant starters and UFA is loaded with players at every position

Non fully guarantee money plus the ability to manipulate the cap with tags and roster bonuses

Teams that stink for a decade are run by terrible regimes , no excuse to be that bad that long

You talk about "IT factor", the bring up then same fucking guy who played like the worst starting QB of any team in the playoffs and lost.

Which one is it? Doesn't Tom Brady (who has better weapons than Dallas, btw) have the "IT factor"? Why'd he lose to shitty ol' Dak, then?

Also, please stop with this Derek Carr / Matthew Stafford shit. They're the exact quarterbacks that everyone says Dak is.

I agree, but with 32 teams fighting for the talent available, it's challenging to build a team that is strong in all facets of the game. Even moreso when one player is taking almost 1/4 of the cap space available.

Tom Brady's a 6th round pick and Jamarcus Russell the first overall pick. What about it? Where they get selected means little to nothing when they reach the NFL. I'm not comparing their college careers. At a certain point, Mississippi State was ranked pretty highly, despite not being a top program. Then Alabama visited them & crushed them.

I'm still waiting for that list of 15 QBs better than Dak, btw.

Take your time. No rush at all.

The three from SF
Colin K
All the Mannings
Romo
Brady
Mahomes
Tua
Johnny Football
Doug Flutie
Allen (Jake and Josh)
Rookie deal Dak

I am saying DAK has a few screws loose between the ears

yeah... I was looking at cap hit, so Rams tied up a lot of resources in the QB position.

Brady is interesting because he took less than market value from the Pats for years

Mahomes lengthy contract is well suited for cap management optimization... (they can push money forward with bonuses/restructure as team needs evolve)

And yet you speak from both sides of your mouth. Choose one and stick with it. Those same quarterbacks who have that "IT factor and who can win a game", your words not mine, either didn't make the playoffs because they're not good anymore, which lead to their team losing more games than not(!), or quite literally just lost to Dak a week before in a humiliating way.

By the way, feel free to take a look at Lamar Jackson's playoff history and tell me how that's been going. Mr. 1-3 in the playoffs, Mr. 3 passing touchdowns and 4 interceptions in 4 games, Mr. My-Team's-Never-Scored-More-Than-20-Points-While-I-Was-QB? Let's talk about Deshaun Watson while he was actually good, and lost a game to Kansas City when they were up 24-0 in the first half, before being down 28-24 at halftime and ultimately losing 51-31.

But you'd take those two before Dak. Please. You're either full of shit or you're incapable of making a cognent analysis. As mentioned above, pick one.

Make claim, make no effort to support said claim.

Surprised that came from you, of all people. Absolutely unprecedented.
I’ve watched him play, he’s not that good. That’s all the “support said claim” I need to provide to you.

I also don’t make any money responding to you, and I know you can’t afford me.

It's a very simple equation.

Does (insert name of player here) play for the Cowboys?

If "YES": OVERRATED

Works every time with 110% accuracy.

I am speaking from one side ....I dont trust DAK to get me to the superbowl , period

Any other owner not named " NO BALLS and too loyal Jones " would be moving on and getting a better replacement

If Rodgers wants out get it done , if Brady wants in get it done .

Cowboys are going nowhere with this knob
