I just would hate to see them go backwards on this if they were the Habs. Those names man...

Maybe. But it could also just be a vote of confidence in the entire organization, and a sign that they don't need to rush into a GM decision - especially if they want a kind of big name that might take a little longer to corral, like Lou did that year.

Also, the UFA market is pretty shoddy this year anyways.

yeah i think i'm with you. this is still a premier spot. for all the talk about family pressure, there's gonna be experienced, smart hockey people with massive egos that think they can finally be the solution here.

and if the pittsburgh penguins can hint to dubas while he's under contract and it's starting to look like that was the case, flex our financial muscles and poach someone. i'm already kinda tired of acting like kyle from brock university is the only one who can build a team.
