Four Nations

Not sure how I got the reputation of being on the other side of arguments, we are all pretty like minded. We even agree that Gretzky is a piece of shit! The one time I have a slightly different take, the pile on happens. Which is par for the course here.

It’s crazy. Everyone here dislikes Gretzky but because some of us don’t despise him enough the echo chamber is disappointed.

Nope, I'm ok with it. We're all good to share opinions. I take a bigger issue with the personal attacks over slightly differing opinions. Like axl said, we are really not that far apart.

I dunno what we can do about this pile on complaint. Should one of us change our opinion?

Not necessary. Just have some respect for someone that fully understands what you’re saying but comes up with a conclusion that is ever so slightly less extreme than yours

I have a family member who moved further right last year (he's starting to see the light now, thankfully, at least as far as Trump/MAGA are concerned, and hates Elon) but the fact this always gets mentioned annoys him because it's somewhat of an intellectually dishonest argument in his view. It is an interesting debate, because we know that Trump has been winking and nodding at the far right for 9 years now. But we also have to be accurate.

It's a rare occurrence for me to have to defend Trump. Still, it's also a fact that he actually condemned the neo-Nazis in that speech ... Whether you believe him or not is a different story. Still, he did say point blank that the neo-Nazis and white nationalists "should be condemned totally".
The post-Charlottesville speech was written for him and represents perhaps the one and only time when he stuck to the script. It was the only time during his entire presidency when he sounded like a normal human being. But while what he said sounded good, he was of course, being insincere. Trump's fascist tendencies and racism are not well kept secrets. So the speech was bullshit from end to end.

I think the only issue I have is purposely downplaying what he’s doing to make it sound like nothing. The “can’t a guy just be friends with another guy these days!!” thing is a bit silly.

He’s friends with a guy who is threatening to invade us, made a coup attempt, and who multiple members of his inner circle are doing Nazi salutes.

I think we all agree that Gretzky has been cowardly.. I mean he could have easily spoken out and still be welcomed at Trump’s Douchey Private Club.

I get the other side of it. I struggled to understand it when we started this debate but it's an emotional time and Wayne has disappointed a lot of people. I get it now.

And to be clear HL, I don't feel that you were one of the people who debated in bad faith on this one.
