I mean the Dept of Education has hardly been much of a success, let's be honest here. Likely one of the only 'cost' saving that no one will notice.

Canada still doesn't have a federal education department and we shit all over their education system.

We will hear many many stories about this disproportionately affecting kids with disabilities and low income/minorities imo.

Dunno mate, leaving it up to the states to determine who gets student loans, who gets grant money, which K-12 schools qualify for which grants, etc sounds like a really good recipe for the return of stealth Jim Crow laws in a lot of red states with large african american minorites.

States have their own Departments of Education which set the curriculum for their states right?

And the federal DOE handles grants, loans and federal funding for students with disabilities and special needs and makes sure kids in low income and minority communities aren't completely fucked over? Kinda seems like this is a case of people not knowing who does what.

Yes, there are going to be a lot of red state Trump voters with disabled children crying about how the leopard wasn't supposed to eat their face, their kid isn't trans or liberal, etc.

Blue state Trump voters will probably be fine because their state education dept will shift funding to make up for a lot of the shortfalls that come from the DoE evaporating.
