I know that critical thinking isn't something they're good at, but if the desire from the US standpoint is to hand off security needs for shipping lanes vital to Europe, to the Europeans...the Europeans are prolific blue water ship builders and it's the one place they punch above their significant weight on if they're unified.

The US took over those duties because they wanted to project their strength and get their way. What these goofballs don't get is that Europe taking over European security in the future means that the US isn't going to get to dictate things anymore.
