You can't really prove something that's hypothetical (and not necessarily obvious), but the Habs have played a lot better since Dach was out for the year (could be a coincidence). Those horrible +/- that some of his teammates had have stabilized (again, just some evidence, nothing conclusive). He still has the rare physical element, but that also led to some bad penalties (like during a Rangers game). It's true that Newhook has a Habs-era Lehkonen knack for missing easy chances, but you can argue the team gets those opportunities when he's on the ice (that he messes up, yes). But that's this year, Newhook is a fairly low bar and hopefully Dach comes back better next year. Please provide proof of this assertion. Also are you factoring in the games his scoring won us? Are you factoring in Newhook missing gift goals repeatedly that could have won a game? Is that not losing a game as well?
It's insanity to purport that Newhook is the better option.
Both healthy I play Dach over Newhook and I suspect you would too. Dach is a 50 point guy while Newhook can't crack 30 and I can't believe you tried using +\- as an argument.
Wait, what!? I didn't use +/- as an argument, nor did I used any sampling size. I just said Dach has been bad overall, except for a few good games. I like 50 points Dach too, but that's not what we got this year. Instead we generally got a lazy vacuum centering our 2nd line. Both were healthy this year, there is only so much extent I can excuse Dach for coming back from a major injury. Also, nice sample size. If you're going to do that then use the few games he was turning it around.
Yet bad Dach out produces good Newhook.
Clown shoes
His injuries played a major factor and you discount that far too much imo.
Sadly I'm dead sober. I like Dach, but I didn't like him this year. I take into account the injury, but it doesn't fully excuse the lack of effort he displayed most of the season. But I didn't like Newhook in the first 3 months either.I can pick apart every sentence you posted but we won't agree until you sober up.

Seriously, what has Newhook done? You guys seem all impressed with speed. Sure he's healthy. 25 points in 80 games and you're all falling over yourselves. He spent a whole year in the press box watching game from up high, but apparently it didn’t help with perspective at all.
So you're whole thing is effort. Because Newhook skates around missing opportunities, losing the puck, peeling off checks etc he's great because he skates fast that makes it look like effort.Sadly and dead sober. I like Dach, but I didn't like him this year. I take into account the injury, but it doesn't fully excuse the lack of effort he displayed most of the season. But I didn't like Newhook in the first 3 months either.
I've forgotten more about hockey than most posters on this board will ever know.Wehave don't agree with me, you diminish my argument.
