Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Never understood the nonsense PK is rambling on about. Call the rules regardless of the time of year

Even heard the nonsense of well if JT was hurt it would have been more. Punish the play not the outcome

Knies - Clean. Player was reaching in and put himself in a prone position
Holmberg- border line through he rode him in more then threw a hit
Domi - probably should have been a call if that was the standard for the game

Even the domi hit the point of contact was hip to hip. Stutzle hit tanev right on the numbers and tanevs back was the stutzle the entire sequence.
I'm struggling to see why zeke can't see the difference between those 3 and the tanev hit. nothing about the hit on tanev was borderline. It was a clear hit from behind.

The homberg hit was, as you noted, more of a riding into the boards and less a hit. its what Gaudette should have done to Matthews to avoid the penalty he took later in the game fwiw

You can say that, but it's not how the games are ever called. The outcome is always the bigger factor than the play itself and rules are only ever applied situationally, in the pursuit of "game management". The NHL has never just called it by the book, which is why they deservedly take so much shit from fans and media. They are not consistent except in their inconsistency.

And let's also end this fiction about "missed" calls. They aren't being missed, they are being purposely ignored. When you see a penalty call near the net called not by the ref in the corner who's looking right at the play, but by the ref 100 feet away at centre ice, that's not a "miss". That's the ref who was closest choosing to ignore it.

Zeke doesn't want to admit it, but the worst missed call of the game was this

Not getting 5.

Auston Matthews was suspended for doing the same thing.
