OT: American Politics

Carney is sucking up to Trump calling him a transformational leader.

See, that’s actually pretty clever phrasing.

Being a “transformational leader” isn’t inherently good or bad. For example—Pol Pot and Joseph Stalin were inarguably “transformational leaders”, in that they produced massive changes in the status quo in their countries. On the flip-side of the coin, FDR & Abraham Lincoln were also inarguably transformational leaders.

It sounds like a compliment though, and that’s how the narcissistic black hole that is Donald Trump will surely take it.

Another clever bit of phrasing was when Carney said something along the lines of Trump is reinvigorating international defense.

Sounds like a big compliment, but it’s actually a shot at him. Where the meaning behind it is “the fact that you’re an unreliable ally and potential enemy is driving other democracies to arm themselves independently of the United States”.

wouldn't it be great if one of these world leaders in the oval office just had the balls to tell the truth, turn to the camera and say "america, you elected an absolute moron to be president. he doesn't know anything about what he's talking about. he's hilariously wrong about this this and this and lying about that that and that."

It would feel nice but wouldn't have any impact on Americans

Here's hoping that when they start renegotiating the USCMA, Canada sends their best negotiator in Calista Leyland and see if Trump remembers. :sneaky:

Well, that statement is technically true but whether it's a compliment or not depends on whether you think that the ways in which Trump has been transformational are good or bad.

They used to call World War I "The Great War" because of it's scope, not because it was, y'know, "great".
