BTW, NHL refs in the playoffs are ridiculous. They choose to ignore all calls and "Let them play", but there's automatic penalties they must call, so puck over the glass is the only thing they are forced to call.

Alternatively, he could have become a bit more Jagr-ish if he wasn't just okay on the puck along the boards. If you're not going to have those first few steps to create separation, you better be a monster at controlling the puck. Tavares has great hands and a plus shot, but the signature skill to take him from being a top ~20-30 player in his prime to a top 5 player was just never there. Was my core argument against signing him in the first place. He's good, but just good. Why shorten the window and complicate the cap situation for a guy who is just good.
