OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

if the starting lineup can be mostly healthy they should be pretty dang good i think.

been a while since we had a full 5 legit nba starters, everyone of which can score the ball if the ball ends up in their hands. huge huge huge HUGE difference from last year when we actually tried to turn Agbaji or Dick into a starter.

a team with RJ-BI on the wings might never be a great defensive team tho.

and as for a bench all you really need is 3 guys to step up and be capable. I'm probably leaning towards Jakobe and CMB being 2 of those guys this year.

3 is a big leap from zero, where i currently am

I mean CMB better be a capable bench player. He was rated a top-10 pick by everyone, some had him top-5.

Jakobe was looking pretty capable by the end his rookie season too.

I think he will be a great defender out of the box.

I also think our bench mob will struggle to score like the cast of a teen sex comedy

This second rounder is 32 years old as well, so you'd have to assume that if he can't handle any role soon, he won't handle any role ever as well.

also...surely Gravy Dick can learn how to play D and shoot better than 35%, right?

This Masai shit feels financial more than anything else.

And if they do prmote Webster i imagine he will be the cheapest President in the big 4 spsorts

Washington and Atlanta seem like obvious Masai fits

Fwiw, I'm down with a 2 for 1 type RJ trade. Or yeah, the RJ for Monk + 2 2nds trade I've heard mentioned out in the universe and then take that 7-8 million and go get whatever we can find in the market with it.

I think Jakobe and Dick can score the ball. And Dick should benefit from not being pretty much forced to shoot all the time. Dick played 30mpg last year and was the #1 option for many of those minutes. that shouldn't happen this year.

big thing to remember this year is that we should have a starting 5 that all should be playing ~33mpg or so. So as long as they're mostly healthy the bench roles should be much smaller than last year.

It won't be a great bench, but it is young and mostly guys taken with good picks.

Starters:
Jake
Scottie
Ingram
RJ
IQ

Rotation:
Dick
Okai
Walter
Mogbo
Shead

Deep Bench
CMB
Castleton
Battle
Lawson

So yeah, the starters are solid but we're not remotely deep enough to handle injuries at anything other than SG imo. Like, there's a warm body to fill the slot, but fuck this might get ugly if we run into 2 starter injuries at the same time. Also, if Jake goes down...Castleton is your starting 5. Lol fuck.

Yeah, I wouldn't hate doing something like RJ for Monk + 2nds so that we can turn around and spend a bit in free agency.
