The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

I mean, yeah, NHL offices are plenty dumb. But this just strikes me as some serious cope from a Canucks homer who’s still trying to console himself and the fanbase for losing out on McKenna to maybe the worst team possible for Canucks fans after an epically bad tank-a-thon season.

If the Canucks had won the lotto, this schmuck would be shouting McKenna’s praises from the rooftops and Canucks management would be having his face painted onto the side of their arena.

am i missing something with malhotra, those numbers don't seem all that great really.

you'd think if it was just cope they'd be talking up stenberg instead of caleb

People seem to be seriously overcorrecting for the positional importance thing. But it's funny because they bring up the winger thing with McKenna all the time, but never with Stenberg.

I wonder why.

To be fair, neither are Stenberg's. Stenberg is also old for the draft class (he'll be 19 by the start of the season), while Malhotra isn't quite 18 yet.

Fwiw, Stenberg was always the one I didn't get at the top of the draft. I don't see a reason to take him over Reid or Carels and there's a good argument for Malhotra to be taken before him based on age and position. Shit, there's an argument for Smits to to be in that conversation as well.

You should ask mindzeye who doesn’t realize you can do many of the same things you do outside, inside.

Or they can ask you, who doesn't see a problem swinging and pressing ~50 pound lumps of metal around in their house with 8 foot ceilings.

You might spend as much on drywall repair as you spend on meth.
