If I retweet ethnic and racist slurs on Twitter, I hope someone would recognize me as a racist or xenophobic.
This has been refuted, and basically called a lie. I'd love to see the proof. Or drop it. Because you're no better than him or anyone else if you spread lies. More than one team mate said this wasn't true.

The issue with him appears to be mainly that he is an outspoken conservative. I have seen allegations of racism but there doesn’t seem to be any substance to them (that I’ve read/seen).

I also think he has a temper issue.

Don’t know anything much about him. If there’s something he said that’s a serious issue please point me to it.

What I do know is that Mark Staal seems fine with him. Fast and Skeij also appear to be onboard along with Rod and the team leadership. That doesn’t seem like it would be the case if he’s a racist or otherwise as bad as he’s being made out.

Note that he was holding hockey clinics and working with kids in New York.
I hope he continues in Raleigh, We have many opportunities - capital city crew, learn to play, polar rec and junior canes. Hopefully Greg and Shane will talk with him.

Jeremy Rutherford, who covers the Blues for The Athletic, says the Canes are still in on Tarasenko, along with the Devils.

OK, putting all of yesterday behind us, is everyone ready to go through this again next year? All 3 dmen we signed or traded for have 1 year left on their contracts. Cole and TDA will be UFAs, Bear a RFA with arbitration rights.

Plus, Nino and Trochek will be UFAs and Necas will be an RFA. So, while we have roughly $7M money left spend this year (after Svech gets done), we'll need flexibility next year. Guys like Tarasenko, Saad and Palmieri are still available--and having either of those last two would be great--but you have to consider what would happen if you hand out another multi-year deal.

Since this seems to be the Dundon way of handling contracts, we don't have any choice but to buckle in for a roller coaster ride each summer.

That being said, it sucks that the team lost Dougie, but my happiness in not burdening themselves with a terrible contract cancels out the sadness.

Tarasenko is under contract for 2 years at $7.5 million AAV. His Actuals are $9.5 and $5.5. Saad is coming off a 6 year/$36 million contract, so he won’t be cheap either.

How the hell is Brandon Saad only 29 (this year) years old?! Feels like he's been in the league for a few generations. I guess the reason for that is because it took 50 years for us Canes fans to suffer through the 2010s.

He and Trocheck were teammates for 1 season with Saginaw in the OHL. Even though they’re both Pittsburgh guys, they didn’t play youth hockey together, Trocheck came through Little Caesars and Saad stayed local.

This would be Dundon's best case scenario. You are not allowed to have no contracts, but every 1 year contract ends quickly so that is as close as you can get.

I don't think its a great idea to rebuild half your D every single season but again, I have to defer to the crew that has delivered 3 straight playoff appearances (at least until we miss, in which case everyone will get a chance to question the approach).

I expect more moves are coming, but no matter what those moves are, the goaltending is going to be my biggest concern. We basically put all of eggs in the basket of Freddie Andersen, who might be in rapid decline and had injury issues last season and Antti Raanta, who seems to be hurt every season. There is no safety net behind those guys, and if they don't deliver, this team is going to be in trouble because I think our OFFENSE and PP are going to take a step back with no Dougie.

Yeah, that's the model for non-core players. I've never been all that thrilled about it. Even if you have a guy you want to be in the core group (Hamilton), there's never going to be a guarantee that you can get him signed to the contract you want. Sooner or later, the plan starts to crack and requires more flexibility on cost than we've seen so far. You can't just walkaway from every support level RFA forever and hope to do a good enough scouting job not to make mistakes. Heck, this player personnel team has made plenty of them so far ... Gardiner, Dzingle, and Huala all happened in one off season. Huala only worked out because they were able to rip off Florida during a weak period in the Panthers' personnel regime.

Tarasenko probably only works if you lose a substantial contract in the process ... maybe Nino? And at that point you're upgrading more than adding. Which is fine if Tarasenko is going to be healthy, happy and productive. When he is, he's one of the best offensive forwards in the league. But it's a big freaking if.

Saad in the current market? Who knows, but if he was going to get a big deal out of somebody he'd have gotten it yesterday. He's a Nino-level producer at best, so I doubt he's getting a raise from his expiring contract. Probably something in the $5 mil range rather than the 6-7 he was probably looking for.

Palmieri is older and probably easier to get on a shorter deal. If he wants more than 2 years, I can't see it happening here. Plus, I don't know whether to trust him to score goals or not. He was a reliable 20-something goal guy for a long time, but he was terrible last year before finding the range in the playoffs.

Dundon certainly not worried about the PR hit he took yesterday. I agree he should talk to the media and maybe he will soon. I'm sure he has gotten plenty of calls

Saad is gone, to the Blues, 5 years/$22.5 million. This makes it more likely than not that Tarasenko will be dealt.
