Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

If somebody really wants to stay where they are, they come right out and say it. There's no thinking, there's no process, there's no talking to family or representatives.

Tavares didn't want to stay with NYI and he played the whole taking his time thing and not negotiating during the season until he took some fake meetings and signed with his hometown team. Then, just a couple of months ago, he firmly stated his desire to stay and resign the day after we lost, and then promptly took a big discount to do it.

Meanwhile, McDavid after the Oilers lost:

“It’s only been a couple of days since the season ended, I’m going to take some time to regroup,” McDavid said Thursday. “I’m going to talk to my agent a little bit and family and all that, and make some decisions whenever that time comes. But there’s no rush on anything like that.”

Oiler fan and wehave only had to worry about McDavid leaving if Leon left.

Leon re-signing and the Oilers becoming a legit contender/having legit playoff success were the last two dominoes that needed to fall to keep him in Edmonton.

Also helps Edmonton’s cause that the Leafs have continued to spin their wheels in the meantime as clownshow all-time playoff chokers while also losing Marner for nothing. If the grass actually looked greener in his hometown, that could’ve been a temptation. But alas.

His agent is the president, his junior coach is his coach. The team is a contender, his two best friends are signed (nurse and Leon)... Unless the Oilers are offering him peanuts he is staying but rumour says it will be a short deal

Or...Marner repels McDavid after turning out to be a skunk who abandoned his team, and wins nothing next year thereby cementing his status as a loser and maybe the reason why we never advanced far, while Matty and the Leafs become a much tougher opponent that goes far in the playoffs, and the choice is simple, and very lucrative.

The "Leap" of faith is believing that if McDavid decides to leave that it will be for Toronto. He may leave Edmonton, but if he does, he ain't "coming home". Hes going to the States like they all do.
