Around the League 2019-2026 Edition

Probably a good move for them. They are in a playoff spot basically because of Schaefer and Sorokin.

Deboer should improve their 46% xG.

This info pairs well with the fact that in the entire 109-year history of the National Hockey League, only three head coaches have ever won a Stanley Cup with multiple teams. Two of them did it in the 30's & 40's, and the third is Scotty Bowman. No one else.

Yet the conventional wisdom is that it's smart to hire "proven winners" like Babcock or Berube.

Also, look where berube ranks there. And he's the shortest tenured leafs coach i can remember.

We hold onto coaches far far longer than most teams do. Especially bad ones.

Pretty sure Mike Murphy is the last Leaf head coach that only lasted two seasons.

Almost 30 years ago now.

huh it's right.

We did screw Maurice for sure though - that team was actually playoffs-worthy by the nerdies, despite having no top-line talent, and was absolutely sabotaged by league-worst goaltending.

Well they had mats and two 60 pt dmen so I wouldn’t say they had no top line talent, but yeah raycroft killed em.
