I think it helped that the Finals was on just one network instead of ping ponging between ABC/ESPN and TNT. ABC/ESPN has to be really happy with this year's finals for both hockey and the NBA because they scored their highest basketball ratings since 1998. Of course, having the Knicks in the Finals really really helps.

If ever there was a team that you’d think wouldn’t do the whole AHL apprentice thing, it’s Vegas. The ultimate cutthroat organization going with the unproven but well known coaching option after burning through big name after big name is almost as bizarre as whacking your Cup winning coach with 8 games left in the regular season. Then again, once you find out the Jim Hiller is off the market, you grab the first available lifeboat.
