The Official 2026 Off-Season Thread: Revenge of the Nerds

Sid apparently released a video asking Whst does Tampa know that the Leaf’s dont

Out of grim curiosity I've watched a few of videos with the vinyl floor tiles on the wall behind him and bar none he's the dumbest fuck of all of these dumb fucks we put up with.

Tampa tried to re sign him. They just weren't willing to go 8 years at close enough to the money he could get on the market.

Combine that with mckennas play making and wow

and Nylander's, and Tavares', and Matthews gravity opening lanes.

It's just good, free range organic 100mph cheese. Watching that pack you see Kucherov a lot because Tampa, and it's easy to just say that Kucherov is a super elite setup guy so Raddysh can't do that here cuz no Kuch, and yeah it helps when a guy with that kind of hands can put a soft, flat feed right where's it's supposed to be, but on all of them Raddysh saw it all happen before it did too, he wasn't just standing there flat footed hammering pucks. There were a bunch of examples of him using movement really well to either get to a better piece of the ice, or get downhill into the feed. Dude isn't just hanging out at the blueline waiting to bang pucks.

Those guys don’t exist any more. They died with Weber and Phaneuf.

With Raddysh's shot on the PP, one of Matthews, Nylander, JT, Knies, or McKenna will not be on PP1. Who do we see off PP1? JT/Knies/McKenna?

PP P/60 over the last 2 seasons combined:

Nylander: 6.99
Matthews: 6.05
Tavares: 5.64
Knies: 4.65

I'd be surprised if McKenna starts the season on it, but he'll get an opportunity at some point and Knies probably ends up the odd man out on that unit.

They allegedly offered him 5 years x $5.75M. Which makes these "what does Tampa know that Toronto didn't" hot-takes ridiculous. You don't offer a player that contract if you don't think they're pretty good, or if you think their play is about to fall off a cliff.

Tampa also lowballs all of their players. It isn't a Raddysh-specific thing.

Kinda wild when you think about it that for nearly a decade, the guys who essentially served as the dual QB’s of our power play—Mitch Marner & Morgan Rielly—both couldn’t take a slap-shot at all and both had pea-shooter wrist shots & one-timers.

Defenses could rest easy, not worry about either of them shooting the puck at all and focus on Auston, Willy & Tavares.

It's a big reason our PP disappeared in the playoffs imo.

The other interesting thing about the Raddysh sign & trade, was that one of the most well-respekted managers in the NHL (and in our division) needed to put pen to paper for John Chayka, supposedly one of the least-respekted managers in the NHL.

Tampa could've dragged their feet, they could have asked for more, they could have out-and-out refused to make a deal with the Leafs. Instead they took a late pick, and did the deal early.

Of course that narrative is stupid bs but it doesn’t even matter. Most gms are pragmatic enough. there was one team raddysh wanted to go to and Tampa got what they could from them.

What Dubas did with Hyman was immature and shortsighted.

Calgary refusing to deal with Tre probably cost them a massive overpay on Anderson or some shit.
